Senator John Thune, the majority leader, appeared open to the idea of relevant Senate committees examining the Signal chat episode. “I suspect the Armed Services Committee may want to have some folks testify and have some of those questions answered,” he said Tuesday afternoon at a news conference. “What we want to do is make sure that something like that doesn’t happen again.”

The National Security Adviser Waltz added him. Don't you read anything?

Clearly, neither does anyone in Trump's admin.

Sad. Use something called google, read up, and then you can join the rest of the class.

^^TikTokers believe in free speech. Why the intimidation implication? I find posts like hers refreshing.

80% of media is controlled by 6 corporations. There is a digital divide in how people source their news now and includes hearing opinions from people like her.

I would imagine that the U.S. has strict rules on feds bringing unsecured electronics to Russia regardless of whether the trip was work related or not? I know my non government research institution has rules about brining institution (and personal if they are also used for work iirc) electronics to countries like China

Tulsi was in India. The chat group idiots have broken so many laws.

Have you ever added the wrong "John" to a chat? These people seem so incompetent that it was probably someone typing in "Jeff..." and the first one that popped up got added, but they never checked to see that it was the correct Jeff.

I subscribe to that failing magazine. Jeff Goldberg will probably get a Pulitzer for his reporting.

+1. If he doesn’t deserve one, who does. Especially since this was ethical reporting. Waiting to publish until US troops were safe, redacting the name of the covert operative (something Trump couldn’t be bothered to do with the JFK papers), describing war plans in a high level, general way and not publish specifics. Publishing once it was safe to do so, and not waiting two years to publish it in a tell all book.

This is Watergate and Pentagon Papers level reporting.

+1 I'm impressed with him and the Atlantic. They really did everything right here. There were a lot of things he could have done that would have made him more attackable...

They have great reporting. I’m sure, with the time delay, he consulted attorneys and tried to verify the source. The fact that the attack happened verified it.

I don’t always agree with everything I read but I think their reporting is honest. I think I pay about $10 for a cyber subscription. I grew up with it in my house.

Guys, please read the original article in the Atlantic. There’s a gift link in the first or second page of this very thread.

“I stand by what I said. We live in a world where this kind of mistake can happen and you learn from it. I have definitely received emails and sometimes emails at the bottom say if you received by accident you need to erase and contact sender. I have done this and can even recall a time someone said something I didn’t appreciate and it was an awkward call. The dumb thing is this reporter could have done this and built a reputation as a stand up person instead of being so partisan.”

“You clearly haven’t read the article, and you should before you compare this to anything you’ve experienced in your own life.”

Reading and critical thinking are tough for PP.

Guess it needs to be leaked.

The leak happened already, the journalist was the recipient of the leak. The information was shared on
non-DoD phones via an app explicitly banned for use by DoD. They are saying that nothing was classified, so he will just be sharing some texts between friends that he was sent.

Cool then why don't they post the entire text chain online? If none of it was classified information then bring the receipts and show everything that was in there....

You idiot, texts have been posted multiple times over but we can't help if you watch only Fox News and they aren't gonna post anything.

The journalist won’t post the whole thing because there is a name of an intelligence officer and military positions.

Who would want to work in intelligence if they know the director will name you in an unsecured chat?

Who wants to work for someone who can’t answer a basic question under oath.
