Who could forget?!
Certainly not those poor Puerto Rican club families who flew out here for an "elite" tournament.

Soo excited to hear about this years plastic broken sombrero medals, rec coaches who quit
mid tournament, u13 teams playing u19 teams. CYA rec teams playing CYA all star teams, entire brackets full of 30-0 scores.....
I guess they do read here because they changed their logo from the vaguely i appropriate South of the border theme to a soccer ball.

I want to know more about this story please! Bahamas?
I think it was Puerto Rico
They probably just had the team mislabeled. I’ve seen it several times - teams from Virgina marked as from Alaska for example. Nobody travels this far for a tournament unless they are big kids and on travel teams
It was a travel team from Puerto Rico-my dc played rec for HYS at the time and played that team. Entire family groups had traveled here from PR thinking it was an elite tournament and then found their team playing rec all star teams from Fairfax. They had big white rental vans and just camped out at the fields all day.
We know Valor was desperate for teams for the tournament but that was sad even for Valor. Those poor people must have spent thousands and thousands of dollars traveling.
This to me is wild. PR is not a well-off territory. That's a lot of money for people to spend.
