It sounds kind of farfetched but I agree, in context, it could be what happened. If Logan's health was really bad it could also have influenced his judgment. Maybe he was so unhappy after that last meeting with he kids at the karaoke club that he comes home and talks to Kerri in his study and has a drink or two, decides to pencil her onto this paper in a fit of pique, etc. Maybe he's having chest pains or other physical issues that are influencing him in that moment. Then he gets on a plane and dies. I doubt Logan would actually try to name Kerri his successor if given more than 12 hours to think about it and calm down, but he just happened to die right after that fight and while in the constant presence of Kerri. I think it could happen.

They made such a big deal about Kerri wanting to find a piece of paper in that last episode -- I wonder whether that's really where they're going with this. I like the prior idea about maybe they changed Kerri's name to Greg which as Greg would be laughable, but as Kerri more believable. And they were SO CAREFUL to float everything in front of the kids as if to be square with everyone, when maybe they were really hiding the ball.

The conversation Kendall had with Frank about his father hating him, and Frank reassuring him that Logan loved him. Frank was selling it a little, maybe.

This makes me think that maybe Roman will have a little more power because he will figure out the paper issue involving Kerri. I will be sad if the finale is Roman gaining power but only after losing his one weakness/strength, which was his unwillingness to screw over other people. He could betray Kendall by alluding to him killing the waiter. He could betray Kerri (who he was showing some pity for) by believing her about the paper but not doing anything about it (or just using it to his own advantage). I'm sure he could betray Shiv as well. In some ways Roman is better suited to run things, but I would be a little sad if he loses his humanity to do it.

Roman is a bit better than the others but he’s no saint.

I just don’t see they they’d have the level of surprise and alarm that they had , if it just said Kendall. Like how is that a surprise? They knew he intended for Kendall to take over for a long, long time so it would make sense there would be a paper in there with his name, especially undated. And he is not some unknown wild card, AND he wants the deal to go through, so while the old guard might not like seeing his name there I just don’t buy the level of panic that Frank and Karl had, if the paper just said Kendall.

The only reason it winds up being Kendall and Roman as co-CEOs is because Kendall makes a deal with Roman in order to avoid a big fight over it, in the same way he makes a deal with Stewie. But the paper only mentions Kendall.

These people all have longstanding relationships with the kids. Frank is Kendall's godfather, Gerri has this long, weird relationship with Roman. Karl and Hugo and Karolina have known and worked with these kids for many years. Kerri is a total wild card to them, with no allegiances and virtually no history. It's why people were unhappy about the Kerri relationship when Logan was alive -- there are no alliances there and the fear was that she could convince him to clean house or something.

So yes, the kids are much more of a known quantity to Gerri/Frank/Karl. Doesn't mean they want them in the CEO's office, but it's something they have all been mentally prepared for and planned for. If Logan decided to install his mistress/assistant as interim CEO upon his death, that would terrify everyone -- not just the people who'd get pushed aside for her, but also all the investors and the board. That choice would be so insane that yes, they would MUCH rather have Kendall, Roman, or even Shiv running things.

I agree it can be sloppy/obvious to erase. It can really depend on the mark though. Like the mark that we see on the page, the cross out/underline, is in pencil but it's really hard -- it would be impossible to erase that without people knowing. But if you write more lightly, you can also erase really lightly and it will disappear without leaving any telltale eraser marks.

So just to totally speculate, maybe the underline/cross out was always there, really dark, and they don't touch it. But maybe Logan wrote "Pinky" (his nickname for Shiv) in the margins next to it, and it's more lightly applied. They might be able to remove that mark.

Also, since things were written in pencil, they can always say "oh, it looks like Logan erased it." So even if the erasure seems obvious, as long as they can convince people they didn't tamper with it (and with three of them, they'd all testify that it was untouched, unless something happened to make them turn on each other), they'd be covered. It's already a piece of paper that Logan clearly made alterations to at different times.

Also, remember how Gerri kept emphasizing that the paper wasn't legally binding? Which is true. No witnesses, no signature, it's not clear -- I'm an attorney and in a situation with a will, a paper like that would be deemed irrelevant. The only reason it's being considered in this situation is because it indicates to the board what Logan might have wanted, and they are in a situation of trying to quell fears from shareholders about the stability of the company. So if they can say "Logan planned for this and this is what he wants" it might calm people down. It's not how you would actually execute an estate, especially since Logan no doubt has an actual notarized will in place and on file with his executors and attorneys. The only way this paper would come into play for the actual distribution of assets would be if there was some problem with the will (like someone could prove it was signed under duress or when the decedent was not of sound mind).

So Geri and the others might have felt comfortable-ish messing around with it because the only impact it will have is on this one board decision -- the interim CEO. The permanent decision will come later and will not be dictated by "Logan's wishes" so much. So if their only goal was "keep Shiv out" because they feel she complicates matters or is harder for them to work with or push aside, then I do think they'd risk messing with the document and feel pretty confident that know one would ever find out because it will never be legally executed. It's just info.
