I agree. Can we get back to dragging this guy for being a violent psycho and stop with the encyclopedia of cycling personalities.

Yes, weird over the top reaction to person on the bike path. The fact he is a cyclist is the least shocking part of this story.

C’mon, really. Is this really about his aggressive behavior or the fact that the others were wall-papering the trail with BLM flyers? There’s a large degree of political pandering when this case becomes a priority of the state AG.

Wall-papering the trail? Are you for real? I love how you also mention they were BLM flyers as if this is someone promoting Osama Bin Laden. You're giving yourself away.

I truly hope you don’t mean that. If that were the punishment meted out for what he did, prisons would be filled to the brim with people committing relatively minor, in the scheme of things, offenses.

You can’t give him 30 years because he happened to be pissed off by BLM instead of any number of other things.

As a taxpayer, I would have absolutely no problem with that. Someone like this does not change for the better overnight, if at all.

What does “someone like that mean”? Someone who commits a simple assault, or someone who commits simple assault while espousing conservative viewpoints?

You really would not want anyone who commits simple assault to serve 10 years. Without priors, most people would and should serve little if any time.

If you want him to serve more because he dislikes BLM, that thankfully isn’t how are system works and, it would be dangerous for everyone, including you, if it did work that way.

It has nothing to do with politics, though you may want it to - this man is hair trigger, and should not be around most people.

You jail someone for what they have done. Not a general hair trigger.

If you jailed everyone who, at least at times acted with a hair trigger for 30 years, you’d have mass incarceration on a scale never before seen.

Yes, and this guy should definitely be jailed for what he did. If you have the same superior attitude that he does, clearly you are not going to agree.

30 years for grabbing someone’s arm and knocking someone else over? Think of how many people have done the equivalent, not to mention much worse.

If you really think they should all be jailed for 30 years, you have a radically anti-progressive view of criminal law.

Needs a pretrial diversion with community service. These jail talking people are nuts.

The are not children. They are 18-19 year olds.

He didn't. The three people are 19, 19, and 18.

Anyone have proof he’s a Trump supporter and this is political? And that he’s not just an angry man?

Everybody is tearing this guy a part. I would bet anything he is not racist. Just like everybody else in the area he is probably liberal and lives a normal life. Probably does not have a racist bone in his body. But he is a cyclist, which means he is crazy. He was probably just mad the kid was blocking the bike/pedestrian path for a second. Have you ever watched the behavior of cyclists at Key Park next to the bridge?

I am pro cyclist safety, but they are crazy and bring a lot of the car nonsense onto themselves. (not the deaths, but the cyclist vs auto road rage)

Keep at your weak ass attempt to try to change the narrative here you fool. He was upset over the content of their posters. He called them names and cursed at them. He called them deviant for their beliefs but you go right on trying to paint the kids as being at fault by blocking the path. Has anyone at any point said the kids were blocking the path? Are you part of his legal team?

People who are wrong have no choice but to change the narrative.

So first, you're conflating the entire category of people who ride bikes with the subgroup of middle-aged men in Lycra who ride bikes too damn fast on trails.

And second, yes, the behavior of middle-aged men in Lycra who ride bikes too damn fast on trails actually is different from the behavior of a sixty-year-old man in Lycra who assaults college kids with his bike for putting up BLM signs.

The anger/aggressiveness is in the same vein.

I don't think that the anger/aggressiveness of affluent middle-aged white men is bicycle-specific.

It's not just middle-aged white men. Don't be a freaking racist.
