23:55 here. Our guards have not been expected to enforce distancing. Board members have been doing that.

I'm trying to picture how a pool could open at 75% capacity, allow free swim, and expect people not in the same household to maintain 10' of distancing. I know 75% is the top number, so as a board member I'm thinking we move to Phase 3 at a lower percentage. 50% would allow almost 80 at a time which during a regular summer day would be a pretty large number of people. We could keep seating areas 10' apart, but within the pools it would still be tough. 33% would put us at about 52 people.

It is definitely something we will have to consider and plan for, just like we did for the first two phases. So far Phase 2 has been the most difficult. Even reading the Phase 3 guidelines and requirements it looks like we will have to get clarification on some things.


Well, now that you say it like this it doesn't seem like much is different in phase 3. I guess our pool can keep up the section/table sign ups but the whole family of 6 or 8 or whatever can be in the section and not just 3. And free swim should mean dive toys should be allowed now.

Yes, true!! The lifeguards at our pool have been hanging out outside the gates as have many of the kids and my kids and their friends since phase 2 started.

The earliest phase iii in anywhere will begin in VA is Friday, June 26.


I don’t see why it’s confusing? If you had been following the various pool threads, we noted that some of the indoor water parks were planning to open fairly soon. We were all just wondering how that squared away with “interactive water features” being closed still in phase 3, and if the state would have to revise or make a “phase 3B” version of the guidelines to accommodate pressure from the tourism lobby.

So in Phase 3 pools will be able to open with up to 75% capacity. I haven’t seen any details whether or not recreational swim will be allowed. If anyone sees more details please share.
