Agree.
in Virginia FCV 07s will stay for DA. They are ranked 154 in region 1, but a better team then that. The 2 big power clubs with very strong 07 girls are Loudoun (ranked #8) and Mclean (#26), but they are the ECNL, so any DA shift may not occur unless say top 3-5 at each club defect. The other 2 DAs, WS and arlington (#102) are either non-existent or a weaker group, so if everyone stays home, it will all be spread out and diluted again with 2 strong ECNL clubs at that age . . . . . Loudoun + Mclean.
braddock (#110) is the ECNL but probably lower on chain.
All speculation but a lot may be about the DAs trying to get commits before the ECNLdoes . . . . . why doesn't the ECNL change that approch and go earlier?
This is funny. Here are the rankings according to Youth Soccer Rankings:
https://youthsoccerrankings.us/rankings/VA/12/Girls/
1. Loudoun
2. McLean
5. Arlington
11. Gunston
12. Great Falls
16. FCV
Number 3 is Loudoun's second team. (I suspect FCV and Loudoun will both create strong teams from Number 1 and 3 Loudoun teams and number 16 FCV team.)
Will be interesting to see if Arlington DA or Spirit DA pick up any players from 07 McLean top team. If not it looks like 07 may not be Arlington's best year. (Both Arlington and Spirit have younger players playing up on current DA rosters.)
ASA 07 birth year has never been strong going on 3-4 years.
Entrenched players and parent politics prevents any real fixes.
If the new Girl's DA can somehow pull from the pre-ECNL teams, some parents will be very upset.
I think there will be upset parents then. They will have a new coach, right? I know that when we went to the DA meeting last year, ASA made it very clear that DA was not for everyone. I think they will get outside players during tryouts, and those players will make the team if they are better than current players. On DDs team, about half were offered DA spots.
Totally agree with this, Arlington will not take exsisting players for DA if they are not capable. Arlington’s 05 DA team only has about 13 players, of which about 4 came from Arlington. This should send a loud message to those 07 players.
Why do you assume players will come to Arlington if the 07s are not at the same level as the current DA crop?
Won't the few 07s with talent either play up or check out other options...

Anonymous wrote:FCV will have try outs for the 07s in Jan and Feb as will WS-VA. How many players attend from Loudoun and McLean 07 will be very telling as to the interest level of these players to move to DA instead of staying for ECNL.
This past year Loudoun waited until March 11 to hold their first ECNL ID session. Will they do the same in 2019? If so, they are giving the DA team a really big window to try out and offer players spots on the DA team.

I found 07 girls rankings for the board from the PP's website. Confirmed as follows:
Region I RANKINGS for 2007s at GDA/ECNL clubs in NoVA
8. Loudoun (ECNL)
26. McLean (ECNL)
102. Arlington (GDA)
110. BRYC (ECNL)
154. FCV (GDA)
N/A. W. Spirit (Great Falls not a substitute)
Just FYI, Great Falls is a direct feeder for WS now. Their 13U group practices with the Spirit 13U group on occasion.
Thanks. Does Gunston do this too?
No. I don't know that they still have any formal affiliation.
