If it's their gun...their negligence caused 2, possibly 3, deaths. Of course they should be charged.
Just because their 17 year old had access to their gun doesn't mean they are negligent. Is there a law that you can cite that states they had to lock up that gun in Virginia so a 17 year old couldn't access it?

No, but best believe the parents will be held liable in a court of law if they created a situation that allowed a 17 year old access to guns. There are 2 children who have no parents to raise them. Those idiot parents of that idiot kid will be on the hook for compensating them.

Just because the current law in our state doesn't allow that, it doesn't mean we shouldn't try to change it away from the typical NRA bullshit no-responsibility laws.
This is what needs to change to stop shit like this. Parents need to be charged when their children use their firearms against others.

Don't know about the "fig" or the "dog". I definitely won't be judging if the dog is not with the uncle. For all we know they have a dog that doesn't get along with his dog cousin or they could have young kids fearful of dogs or allergies. There is someone on here well connected in the shelter and rescue community who can probably find out where the dog is.
I can re-check but last I heard, they were not releasing any information to the 'public' due to the nature of the crime. My rescue place was essentially told 'wait in place'.

So to me this indicates premeditation. And he apparently had a previous juvenile record. I work with adolescents who have emotional disabilities and this story kills me. So very many signs were there. If the guns was from his parents - I just can’t see how they aren’t responsible.

Note to self, if one of my kids becomes troubled, I will NOT be sending him/her to a school full of other troubled kids. I will work within the existing school system or homeschool. Seems like the dating pool at this school was seriously lacking.
