That's the point of zero tolerance. It removes discretion and rationality from the equation. Some of you want to double down and argue that harmless pranks like turning off a projector are in effect a "gateway" to making a not-a-hoax bomb. Thee us no evidence that Mohamed ever hinted or explicitly represented that the clock in a pencil box was anything other than a click in a pencil box. No threat was made or implied. So what's the supposed prank.

Agreed. However, he was known for pranking in school. So it stands to reason they might not have thought a clock was just a clock. You reap what you sow.

I find the projector prank pretty clever and wish that there was a IR remote control back in the day. The kid wasn't torturing neighborhood pets, spray painting anti-Semetic graffiti or dropping explosives in toilets.

I'm the PP. Now understand that my husband would have done the same at his age. Even now. He turned off all the TVs in Tysons food court. Some boys never grow up

I think this kid is probably mischievous as most really smart kids are. Which is why they had to check out this new device - he's a prankster and they weren't sure if he went too far.

As for the bullying? I don't approve and if he hit a kid who was bullying him, well, good for him.
