I don't think you can avoid split feeders at MSs in Western Fairfax but you can work to minimize them. The area has a lot of schools that are near one another. The reality is that closeness leads to the current mess with people who want to stay at a specific school being able to point to a location on the map that shows that moving makes for a longer commute while others pick a different point on the map and shows that it doesn't. Most people want to stay at their current school so it turns into a giant cluster.

But there is no way to get to a MS system where there are no split feeders in this area.

I understand the objection to split feeders in middle school.

However, geography is also a factor.

I don't see any way to avoid split feeders in this area. I just don't. Again, Franklin is midway between Rocky Run and Carson.

Lee's Corner has kids in walking distance to Franklin and, also, extremely close to Rocky Run.
Oak Hill has kids in walking distance to Franklin, and, also walking distance to Carson--except for the traffic liability.

Franklin is less than two miles from Carson and just over two miles from Rocky Run.

The area is heavily developed with residential areas--houses and townhouses. Lines have to be drawn somewhere, but you are either going to have split feeders or crisscrossing school buses all over the area.

Putting Crossfield at Franklin MS creates a split feeder for Navy at the MS level.

Also Lees Corner would still be at Franklin MS so it will still be a split feeder to Chantilly and Oakton.

Maybe you need to look at maps.

NP. I don't think this is true about Rocky Run because it's clear with adding Navy kids to Rocky Run, they had to subtract Cabels Mill kids to Liberty. For the same scenario, the Cabels Mill kids are back at Chantilly and half of Navy kids are back at Oakton.

Even not knowing the area, moving walkers to a MS 6 miles away is not something you would do without a preciptating factor.

There are enough inane swaps across these 3 scenarios that I'm not convinced. Alternatively, precipitating factor could have been the low utilization rate at Liberty. Agree its a bad move, but presuming the rationale why and blaming other people is a no-win proposition.

Centreville should just be taken out of the renovation queue. It doesn't need more seats. Do an update of whatever systems need to be updated HVAC or whatever and spend the money elsewhere.

Pretty sure that Crossfield was at Franklin prior to Carson being built. Franklin and Carson are very close together. Most of Crossfield is very close to Franklin. Some are closer to Skyview. All are close to Skyview.

+2. It's this. Navy->Rocky Run -> Oakton makes no sense since as a PP pointed out Rocky Run is primarily (or all?) Chantilly feeder now, and Chantilly and Rocky Run are right near each other.
