The man is absolutely deranged. It's time for the 25th Amendment.

1. Greenland is Denmark, not Norway. Denmark has nothing to do with the Nobel prize
2. Norway is merely the country which hosts the awards, in Oslo City Hall. And the Norwegian government does not directly select recipients, that's done by an independent committee.

We had at one point 17 military bases on Greenland, and the Greenlanders and Danes were entirely okay with that. WE chose to shut them down to where we now have only one remaining. Undoubtedly the Greenlanders and Danes would be happy to let us increase our presence again, if it was really about security - we were there in the first place because of the Cold War.

Trump is an uneducated and deeply stupid human being, hands down the worst who has ever resided at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

And considering some of his predecessors, that's saying something. It's not just stupidity however, it's dementia on top of his pre-existing malignant narcissism. I know it's not done to share armchair diagnoses, but this has been floated around for many years now and he's been checking all the boxes, in a highly visible manner, since he's the President. There is little doubt that he has that profile.

Please explain this. I am unaware of how much US debt European countries hold.
How does this work?

The U.S. owes European entities roughly $2 trillion to over $2.5 trillion in Treasury securities, with significant holdings by the UK (around $700B-$800B), Luxembourg (hundreds of billions), France (hundreds of billions), and other countries like Belgium and Ireland, making European nations major holders of U.S. debt alongside Japan and China.

Go to war MAGA cult of stupidity

The other thing to understand is that the US dollar acting as the world's reserve currency lends the economy significant stability. Losing that loses the US a tremendous amount of power and economic safety.

But what are the consequences for the Europeans if they do this? If it's so catastrophic for the US, how will this happen? Will it put enough pressure on the Trumpers?

The news this morning is so, so horrifying. NYT says Trump wants Greenland because he didn't get the Nobel?!?!?!? And this man is a "leader"? I can't begin to comprehend educated people supporting this demented lunatic!! WTF???

Oh you are? I’m assuming neither you nor someone you care about has type 1 diabetes and needs insulin to survive?

Yes, I am willing to make the sacrifice. Most diabetes is reversible with lifestyle changes and I'm really not keen to let Big Pharma dictate our foreign policy based on drug sales. Moreover, there are many other producers of the drug for those who genuinely need it; we do not have to source from Europe.

Honestly, it would be better if we just deported maga if we could find a country that would take them.

Yeah, if you can figure out how to do this, I'll give YOU my Nobel Peace Prize.

All this does us further isolate the US diplomatically and economically. But MAGA, right?

You act as though either Denmark or the US will own Greenland. And more plausible scenario is that the US will own it, or China or Russia will. Denmark is not capable of defending Greenland. Be serious for a moment. They cannot. So either we take it and defend it, or China and Russia will.

Um, as a NATO member, *we* are supposed to help defend Greenland.

NATO is supposed to be a shared defense organization. Not a "you can eff around, spend nothing on defense, and America will come rescue you" organization. I really don't give a crap how Europeans feel about any of this. You do realize that they have free health care and incredible social benefits, while expecting us to pay for their defense. How is that fair to poor Americans? I'm not okay with this. They can either step up and pull their weight, or we will take Greenland and more. And furthermore, if they want to seek protection from Russia rather than us, they will be in an even worse boat. They have completely given up- stagnant economies, moronic decisions like closing nuclear plants so now high energy bills and worse pollution, no defense, no children and no future.

You are an idiot. It is amazing that people as ignorant as you actually say this stuff out loud!

Checkout US overseas bases and see which ones are in NATO members countries. Look at shared bases. The US will be kicked out of everyone of these bases and countries. No more tanker fleet, no use of any European airspace or overseas territory. Losing Diego Garcia will really hurt. With out Turkey and Italy’s base you can not defend Israel. You can attack Iran because of the refueling assets being most NATO.

The US will not able to project power. We will be out of Europe, the pacific, five eyes, Canadian airspace will be off limits, etc. The US will have to increase defense spending by 5 times and still not have the same abilities we have now. We will not be able to supply our fleet or use port facilities.

NATO countries have a GDP of 27 trillion. The US GDP is 29 trillion. Now look at how much the NATO members spend - 500 billion a year. This is just for European defense. The US spends 825 billion. The European will drop US defense contracts. This will increase procurement and maintenance cost by 2-4 times.

Good grief you have no clue. This is a disaster.

If you really think that Europeans are willing to shift the entire balance of power in the world to defend the current administrative control of Greenland (!), you're a moron.

Are you 12?

Your evidence for "you're a moron"?

Please, let's see you support this idea that Europe is not willing to defend itself from a crazy would-be dictator who's pissed at Norway for not giving him the Nobel Peace Prize.

Let's hear it.

It's not just his intellect that is declining with age or his lack of emotional regulation. He is mentally ill. Why can't the press report on that? Why does everyone continue to normalize him by attributing his bizarre behavior to everything BUT mental illness? He is not well and he is like a high speed train whose brakes have failed. He is barreling us and the world toward chaos and danger.

agreed.

It is maddening watching the press taking his delusions seriously.

Speaking of taking his delusions seriously...this guy better not try to run for anything again in the future. He is aiding and abetting the madness.

Exactly, Republicans aren't going to do squat to save the US.

Why would he, he is not born in the US, is he? According to MAGA, he is not a citizen.
