Because she’s insecure even though she shouldn’t be. Travis would never leave her money and fame for some middle class rando.

She has at least two disses for black women.

Charli XCX
Ex gf of Travis

It's gross. And, with the ex gf, Taylor is punching down on a woman who does not have a big platform or all the money that TS has. It's not a good look. It's actually like something Trump would do.

Charli:

Oh, my bad. Taylor is attacking brown women of Indian descent and black women. Glad we have that clarified.

Charli has attacked first, and often. She doesn't not give a F, why should you

Criticizing Taylor's work is always fair game. That's how art work. It doesn't matter what else you do -- many artists have done a ton of charitable work or are just very exceptionally good people, and they will still get critical reviews (by professional critics and by regular people) because that's the gig. You have the privilege of sharing your artistic work with the world, and letting them receive it as they will.

The random criticism of her relationships or just hating on the way she looks or just vague attacks on her being washed up or middle aged or fake or whatever... some of that is mean girl behavior but it's easy to ignore.

But criticizing her music or her videos or her dancing or the concept of her album? That's always fair game.

Disappointed in this album. She comes off as an insecure mean girl and unconscious racist.

DP. I thought I was the only one who noticed the latter but a lot of people on Reddit and X said the same thing. I think it’s probably normal for her to feel a bit insecure when her fiancé has ever only been publicly linked to black women. The savage reference is particularly weird because Megan Thee stallion allegedly rejected him.

People on reddit and Twitter always think everything is racist. There's a line about an onyx sky or something and they think it's racist against his ex.

Except she directly references the ex in the same song. And said herself that it’s about when relationships don’t work out.

She's talking about times were dark with that girl, and now they have created happiness. She surely does not mean to literally say "your ex was dark skinned and now you have me, a white chick."

The word onyx and onyx imagery are much more linked to blackness than the word “dark” but nice try.

That is quite a reach.

Agreed. Um, she’s coming out of her tortured era (onyx) and everything is Opalite, Travis’s birthstone (+ his blue eye color is all over this album). That’s all.

Girl is at risk of overexposure (haha)

She's long ago been overexposed. But that's not really a factor anymore. She's at Michael Jackson level, so nothing can ever touch her.

She's immortal, baby. She couldn't die if she tried.

That is one unwholesome looking group. 🤮

I know. The people that overthink this and analyze every little word in the lyrics. Imagine if we did that for Prince or Michael JAckson. It's just music ppl.

Yes! God people can't get out of their heads and enjoy anything these days. That says more about her fans than her.

Yeah, I never get the criticism here. Any show, any book, any movie, any music we listen to it’s all about people figuring their crap out.

“ I’ve been in therapy for years and I’m finally figuring out how to own my own stuff and not rely on other people to meet needs I am responsible for meeting on my own” is great in real life but we want to see that journey not just hear about the destination.

This is not a People magazine cover story. It’s an album.

If people want to like her for her pettiness and vengefulness, I get that. I’m glad some of her fans are owning up to that because they used to berate/insult anyone who called her that. I guess they are maturing? I DO have a problem with someone who is consistently punching down and using vengeance as a platform being called a “good role model” for young girls. I can only see that being a plus if you want to perpetuate mean girl culture.

Anything Taylor does would be seen as punching down. She’s helped many of these young artists and they turn around and crap on her but somehow Taylor’s the one who’s not the girls girl.

What young artists has she helped because she’s a girls girl? She helped Sabrina because she was threatened by Olivia Rodrigo. Threatened by Billie Eilish. Obviously Katy Perry thing(who sucks so whatever).

She did help Charli, and look what it got her.

Exactly. She's been nothing but ungrateful and bratty. But I guess that's her thing. God CXCX is boring.

You think she’s HELPING these young pop singers? lol. No, she’s an old cringy “cool mom” trying to orbit younger and hipper women. It’s desperation to try to make herself look youthful and hip. Like a 5th year frat bro trying to hang out with freshmen at a dorm party.

You missed the point of the album. Life of a show girl clearly shows she's now the older, icon leaving the pop world in the younger hands (she picked it up from Brittney, now giving it to Sabrina). She acknowledges that she's not the hip one in eldest daughter. She's not trying to make herself look youthful and hip whatsoever.

The point of this cheesy half-baked album and all of its variations was to milk $$$ from her fanatical middle aged fan base. Gen Z isn't checking for her.

I think she's probably ok with that.

The lyrics speak for themselves.

"His love was the key
That opened my thighs...
The curse on me was broken by your magic wand
...
New Heights of manhood
I ain't gotta knock on wood"

Exactly this. The cringe is intentional. She is in on it, and this album is a fun goodbye, an end of an era(s), a passing of the torch. And Charli opened for her in 2018 so yeah, she helped her.

Anonymous wrote:I really like the song Wish List. I’m surprised she wrote it for Travis. It sounds just like “And if my wishes came true, it would’ve been you” and “I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings.” Those deep desires don’t transfer to every man a woman dates. My bet is it’s at least partly inspired by Matty Healy, still. The lyric about asking the world to leave them the f&ck alone, “and they do, wow” makes no sense for Travis. No one is bothering and canceling them the way they did when she went public with Matty.
Wish List is the continuation of But Daddy I Love Him: the heat dies down and she gets back together with him. Her parents and the fans lets them be and she is having his baby.

Paper Rings is about Joe and the one is about Karlie Kloss.

Dreaming about marrying Joe in 2019, Karlie in 2020, Matty in 2022 & 2023, Travis in 2024…and all along imaging having babies with all of them? Doubt it. Taylor is as straight as it gets. All roads lead to Matty for her. She admitted it herself on TTPD: she was changing lovers and plans and outfits and rules to outrun him his desertion. Sounds like she still is doing that.
