I have two kids in MCPS.

No matter what they teach in school, the parent will need to supplement something at home. Period.

The curriculum keeps changing and siblings will get rather different experiences. I supplemented one with grammar at home, but next kid a few yrs later got it in school, done well. Math improved over the yrs too - Eureka is excellent and so is whatever they use in MS.

I have had to supplement writing.

The only time I didn't have to supplement is when one DC went to Global Ecology magnet at PHS. Now that is a stellar program - arguably the most unique in the country, certainly in the county. Solid teachers, solid teaching, a true gifted education. Complaints are minimal about this program and praise is high.
I don't know as much about Blair or RM, but the PHS Global could be an example of how a gifted magnet program should be implemented.
