"Deplorables" was labeling Trump supporters. The "Weird" labeling is focused on the candidates and other GOP politicians, pundits, media guys.

For the purposes of this discussion, the left-leaning terminally online crowd loves the “weird” narrative. But I don’t think it will resonate as well with the non-terminally online swing state voters, especially coming from some of the unquestionably weird Democrats. I think it’s actually likely to fall a little flat. This is red meat for the already-committed Democrat voters, but that’s not who the Democrats need to reach.
The same is true in reverse for other messaging from the Republicans, but that’s not the subject of this thread.
I think the average not-terminally-online person is probably as fatigued by Trump as the rest of us. I think any reminder that we’re going to be hearing about this freak for another 4 years if he wins is good enough. I’m ready for the republicans to move on to their next psychopath. Trump is getting old.
To put it in entertainment terms, Donald Trump is a TV series that has stuck around a season or two too long, in contrast to Seinfeld which ended at its peak. Trump has become boring, old, and clearly mailing it in. And the actor he brought in for a boost, Vance, is wooden, creepy and repelling audiences.
ITA with this. Vance = Ted McGinley.

They loved when people called them deplorable, and they’re big mad that people are calling them weird.
Ye, being the rebel bad boy is "cool."
Being labeled as essentially "bizarre" is not.
