+1. I am volunteering on his campaign and am surprised and pleased to see the number of independents who are expressing support.
So independent voters agree with Larry Hogan that the Trump trial was all above board and therefore we should respect the verdict?
He didn't say anything about the trial being above board. He could have, but he didn't.
If Hogan believes that the trial wasn’t fair to Trump, then how is he different than any other Republican? Why should MD Democrats support him if he refuses to say that the trial was fair?
Why would Democrats vote for a Republican? Hogan needs to win Independents and hope for low Dem turnout. He’s not going to be winning over Bernie Bros.
FWIW almost 400,000 more people voted in the Democratic primary than the Republican primary.
You know that this is Maryland right?
I feel like I need to say that first, before even mentioning details like there was a contested Democratic senate primary with lots of money thrown at it.
There was a contested Republican senate primary too.
No there wasn’t, unless you have no idea who Robin Ficker is.
He got 28% of the vote.

That who double lane bypass is total overkill, costs tens of millions of dollars for literally no reason.
What’s this?
DP. As governor, Larry Hogan killed the Baltimore Red Line and redistributed the state funding to road projects in counties where he received a majority of votes, such as Garrett County. I think this is one of those road projects. https://roads.maryland.gov/mdotsha/pages/pressreleasedetails.aspx?PageId=818&newsId=3893

But what really seals it for me is his record as governor. The man is pragmatic, truly bipartisan, and all-around awesome.
He will also make sure Baltimore’s shipping ( ie - the whole regional economy) after the bridge disaster won’t be forgotten at the fed level.
No one else can do that.

Don’t you think Hogan needs to do more to reach out to Democrats? He should state unequivocally that the Trump trial was fair.

I for one am voting Hogan.
Definitely Hogan. He’s consistently been anti-Trump. He had no patience for the culture wars.
Same here.
I am behind him 100%
I am sure this, or something like it, has been said numerous times on this thread, but I feel compelled to add my two cents.
I am a liberal (not progressive) Democrat in my 50s. I have voted for Larry Hogan twice for governor, and would happily do so again. I think he was an excellent counterweight to the Democrat controlled Maryland state house and senate. I also appreciate that he has been consistently anti-TrumpI don't agree with him on everything, or maybe even on most things, but I think he is a decent person who cares about Maryland, its residents, and the country as a whole.
And there is no effin' way I am voting for him for the Senate.
All of you who are talking about the things he did for MD and his personal qualities are both correct and missing the point so badly that it's hard to believe you are serious. Much more important than any individual politician, no matter how much you like him, is which party controls the House and/or Senate. That determines who controls what bills are considered, what judicial appointments are brought up for a vote, whether committees attempt to hold the executive branch accountable . . . the list goes on and on. You can wish, or pretend, that it didn't work like this, but it does.
So Hogan's personal beliefs and character are utterly irrelevant to this decision. You aren't just, or primarily, voting for a senator - you are voting for the Senate majority leader, and all of the power that goes along with that.
Please remember that as you cast your vote.
