They are hard workers.... they are primarily miners or farmers or work in the lumber industry. The left claimed that these people would have safer, better paying jobs to replace those being taken away. How has that worked out for them?
Now wait a second. Their lost jobs are not caused by the green push. It's because (1) Appalachian coal is too expensive, and (2) natural gas is cheaper than coal.
True. When you see those pro-coal billboards along the highway, remember the person who paid for the advertisement is buying your vote but most definitely not your coal.

+1. These jobs have been going away for a generation or more. They aren't coming back and the people that live there need to stop living in a fantasyland.

My county (ultra green) shifted from burning coal to burning wood chips. It ended up being significantly more expensive plus it deforested our county and neighboring county plus there were tons of logging trucks on our roads.
After about 5 years of the wood chip burning fiasco we are back to burning coal.

Yes, I went to school with these folks too. They made fun of me for being a "nerd" and making good grades, and wanting to go to college. I'm now married to a rich man north of Richmond and I have a good career, so it worked out for me. They are still in southeastern Virginia blaming "the blacks" for the problems in their lives.
