Better weather, white officers, lockdown fatigue. I don't think swift action by police administration would have prevented the riots.

Yes, she fired everyone regardless of their culpability. She new it was necessary to prevent the woke mob from burning down the city.

I think second degree murder may be a stretch for at least some of the officers, but I don’t see how anyone looks at that thinks that any of those people are still worthy to protect and serve.

We were in a lockdown for months. Those protests/ riots provided a great excuse to ignore covid for a bit.

That's true. Floyd's murder was awful. But, also the weather was decent and we had been locked down. The protests and riots were, among other things, an entertainment option for a population that was not only unhappy with the murder but was also stir-crazy and bored.

And the media glorified the protests. You couldn't see your sick parent, but heck let's burn the city!

But also, the Memphis police chief deserves a ton of credit for reacting swiftly and appropriately. There wasn't weeks of anguish thinking these cops wouldn't have any consequences.

It’s because it’s hard to admit that even though you go into a profession for all the right reasons you find yourself as part of the problem. You help 100 people but violate 1 persons rights. They want to defend that because they’re mostly good or “nobody is perfect” or “they must have had a reason” or “that person probably committed a crime just not this time”.

Those are just a few “reasons” from my anecdotal observation.

Most cops look at this and know it’s wrong but many don’t want to think their family will be destroyed by one bad night. (Or one they get caught)

I’m not, but that’s likely because I grew up in a very poor neighborhood, and didn’t have good interactions with police.
