There are millions of financially underprivileged families where no child would ever suffer like that.
Many, many children “suffer like that”, unfortunately.
Could you name one other child that had been forced to parade behind his dead mother’s coffin on live tv? Of the millions you claim exist?

So you’d have hugged and let her borrow your lip gloss

That doesn’t mean they were unwilling to use his ideas. It means they considered his ideas and rejected them because it is not how the royal family works. They encouraged Haz to forge his own path and pay his own way, and he is having his revenge. It’s beyond sad and spiteful.
No. I think you’re lying. You did not read the book. Had you actually read the book you would know that it was workable, as others had done it before. Did you also consider Charles’ book sad and spiteful when he lambasted his mom and others?
I haven't posted since the beginning of this thread and just finished the audible book today. Harry presented 5 options, from nothing to changing to complete cut-off. Apparently he wanted a middle ground, the palace chose the middle ground. I really don't understand why he presented options that were unacceptable to him.
Where did the book say he proposed the five options? I went over that passage again and it says only that he, the Queen, Charles and William were presented with the five options at the Sandringham Summit. I took that to mean the palace had prepared the list of five possible options.
Didn’t he suggest that those options were the ones he sent to his father? The bit that they could have only come from one source?
No, the letter he sent outlined one generally option for them to live abroad for part of the year (in or near a commonwealth country, where they would still be working for the queen but away from the British press. He also said generally that they were willing to make any sacrifices necessary, including giving up their titles, to ensure their safety. Continuing to have security was the one thing Harry insisted upon, but Elizabeth/Charles pulled all their security with zero notice.

And in some ways - in many ways- the spare seems like the better gig than the heir

Well, may be he has rose colored glasses on or may be she is perfect in his eyes or may be he is emotionally dependent on her and can't criticize her, just like kids who think of their parents as angels after losing them and block all bad memories.
Or maybe he's just not going to criticize her because she already gets tons of it unfairly. Or maybe he's just being a normal husband who keeps criticism of one's spouse private.
Goodness, some of you aren’t understanding we’re not looking for criticism. No one on earth would think he would criticize his wife in this book. Everyone knows they’ve been through the wringer. But he does betray her and INo one on earth, but think he’d criticize his wife in this book. Everyone knows they’ve been through the ringer. But he does portray her in a very unrealistic light of angelic perfection… she always says the right thing thinks the right thing, it’s just unrealistic.
I kinda get what you are saying. Perhaps he could have said (if correct): “Meg may not have been thinking clearly at the time because of wedding stress” or “maybe she misread the situation..”
DP. I think you’re misunderstanding what the book is about. This book isn’t about Harry’s marriage to Meghan. The book is about Harry’s experience of being the “spare” in the royal family. Random anecdotes about Meghan doing something wrong aren’t relevant to that. What is relevant is how he experienced his family’s reactions to Meghan. There are positive and negative anecdotes along those lines in the book - it’s not nearly so one-dimensional as the Harry and Meghan haters are making it out to be. But ultimately the book is about Harry’s evolution as a person and his place in his family, not about Meghan’s faults as a human being.

Did you read the book? They tried doing that in an isolated/rural place on Vancouver Island. It lasted 6 weeks before the media found them.
no one is "after" them. if they had stayed in England they would have had security and could have lived relatively low key lives like Zara or Lady Louise. They never had the paps hound them like Diana did, and they could have easily faded into a country life with money, protection and Harry's family who he supposedly loves. They WANTED to go abroad to MAKE MONEY and be FAMOUS!!!
What they — especially Meghan — had instead was constant virulently racist media attacks, and multiple violent threats. So, possibly “low key” but hardly “like Lady Louise”. It’s amazing how easily some people dismiss the intensity of chronic racism.
DP. The thing is, bad press (yes, the UK tabloids are toxic, as are some spaces on the internet) is avoidable by *not reading it*.
Yep, if you just don’t read it, you won’t notice the paparazzi literally chasing you through the streets in their cars or cutting open your fence to try to find a way into your home. 🙄

So, you’re advocating never picking up any of a number of daily papers, never ever turning on the TV, avoiding quite a lot of radio and podcasts, somehow managing to screen your internet access — including current events on the home pages of many browsers, telling your friends not to mention media attacks, avoiding your stepmother in law’s tête-à-têtes with people like Jeremy Clarkson, while STILL remaining appropriately aware of current issues facing your countrymen? Got it! I hope my galloping sarcasm is apparent.
