While Gabbie is a 22 year old adult, we can agree she is mentally ill and fairly immature.
She really should not have been spending her time on social media - let alone making it such a focus.
I'm the one who thought both of them should have been doing something productive with their lives. That said I have no problem with her social media accounts. They're nice and the content is actually well produced and thought out.
But she had no focus other than 'I want to be a social media star'. That's not how it works. You need a pull - something that draws an audience. You either need to be hot enough to start your own OnlyFans (and she wasn't) or you need something to divert sexual interests to hobbys - like being a mom of 10 kids pulling her hair out or the owner of the GrumpyCat.

Exactly. Hers made me laugh with the “she could have walked out the forest into a mental institution.” Cognitive dissonance is real folks.
A very isolated institution where none of the staff have realized that there is a massive search going on for her and thought to mention to the police that they have a patient matching the description. Or I guess she has enlisted them in her conspiracy of silence. Oh, and they also apparently offer free services.
I’m sure she’ll just claim it’s all somehow because of HIPPA though.
The wouldn’t have to be isolated. If an adult is committed to an institution, they can not give out any information legally.
The Privacy Rule permits a HIPAA covered entity, such as a hospital, to disclose certain protected health information, including the date and time of admission and discharge, in response to a law enforcement official’s request, for the purpose of locating or identifying a suspect, fugitive, material witness, or missing person. See 45 CFR § 164.512(f)(2).

Also, Thousands of people tour/Road trip/camp/backpack the US in a van or RV every year. Doesn’t make you homeless. It’s not just for millennials.
My friend from high school didn’t go straight to college and screwed around for a couple of years. She followed a minor league baseball player to spring training in Canada. She lived with me for a bit. Worked at hooters. She’s now the CFO of a small bank and making 450k.
You are so dam snobby and judgey.
DP.
Just 6.7 % of the population earns some sort of college degree, worldwide. A greater percentage attempt college, but fail to complete any degree.

Okay here's a less elitist question - why aren't either of these two 22/23-year-old's in trade school? Military service? On-the-job medical training?
Because they’re having fun traveling the country before slaving away for 30 years
If they weren't in school or trade/job training - surely they've been 'having fun' since they turned 18? 5 years wasn't enough?

Np so kids that age aren't allowed to travel? This isn't a new thing and in fact JFK talks about "touring" Europe! Life is more about trade school/college. Soon enough life will be drudgery.
Here's a thought...maybe if they weren't living in a 30-square foot van in the desert and calling home to beg their parents to send them takeout and actually being responsible with the pursuit of education or a career, one wouldn't be dead (presumably) and the other on the run for murder (presumably).
So? Lots of people do this and dont end up being murdered. People are human and make mistakes and clearly hindsight 20/20. Sounds like you want to rationalize how it could never happen to your family members so you are being unfairly judgmental
DP.
It is true that many do this without being murdered. John Steinbeck travelled the US in a similar size camper with his dog Charlie; he even wrote a book about it.
But we all focus on the trips that turn into disasters - like that kid in Alaska who tried to live off the land while camping in an old school bus.
Or this immature 22/23 year old couple, who both suffer from mental illness.
Maybe they ought to have sought treatment before cooping themselves up together in a tiny space under challenging conditions , while daily trying to portray an unreal, care-free, super happy, la la land internet image of their trip.
And sadly, I feel obliged to add the disclaimer for certain nit wits on this board: no, this does not mean I believe she deserved to die (if she is even dead).
