Amen, PP. This case--and all the related documentaries about the family--have laid bare for all to see the inner workings of the good ol' boy culture that has always been stacked against poor whites and non-whites. Mind you, the North also has entitled family dynasties (the Trumps come to mind), but this case exemplifies upper-class male privilege on steroids. I hope the families of all his family's victims go after his estate for every penny they can get.

Funny you didn't mention the Kennedys, the most entitled family in U.S. history.

Probably because the Kennedys represent both sides of the coin: Scandals and debauchery, but also public service and charitable works. The Trumps have never given a damn about other people and have contributed nothing of value to this country.

True. I have never been to the Trump Center on F Street to see an opera.

Pretty sure that video never was sent to Rogan. They were chatting until Paul’s phone went dead. Rogan kept calling back wondering what happened to him. SLED got into Paul’s phone only recently, Alex kept lying about being at the kennels and then got caught. Even then, he denied it was him on the video

I believe what he said, that he lied about his being at the kennel because he knew the police already thought he did it and he was scared to say anything. The guy is definitely a bad person, but I think the investigation was very lazy and never looked hard at anyone else.

You didn’t hear the video that Paw-Paw sent Ro-Ro about Cash the dog. In it you can clearly hear Mags’ and Elick’s voices talking about a chicken in Bubba’s mouth. This was 5 minutes b4 they were killed. To me, this was the damming piece of evidence.

That and how he tried to intimidate his mother's caretaker into agreeing he had been at his mother's house for 45 minutes and tried to intimidate his housekeeper into agreeing with what shirt he told her he was wearing when she saw him earlier. Also the fact that they didn't have anyone else to point the finger at. The finding of the gun casings was interesting but not completely compelling.

Interesting how we can judge the entire region by one person wrongdoing. Shall we apply the same judgement to the north culture based on Epstein conviction? And west culture based on Harvey Weinstein's crimes?

+1 Thank you. Or the mafia in NJ and NY? And nY culrure giving us Trump?

I mean it has every Southern trope except a down on her luck waitress mistress and some moonshine. Come on. This man was done in by a dog named Bubba and a heroic, sacrificial, unnamed chicken.

PP here. I don't disageee with what ypu've said here. I'm just saying it is not representative of southern culture.

But it is. There were scores of people we saw that were a part of this lifestyle. Is it ALL southern culture, no, but that stuff with the guns and dogs, small town nonsense, silly nicknames is for real the same way the NYC has a bunch of mooks named Jimmy Two Finger and Fat Sal at a pizza parlor. It’s not from nothing.

PP here. I guess I can only say I've lived in the south all my life, as did both my parents and their families; and I've never known anyone personally like this crowd.

Are you in Alpharetta? Because if you lived almost anywhere else in the south, you would know these families. They run the smaller cities and towns with the power of their granddaddy’s name and insular social circles. Their kids get away with everything and get all the accolades.

Haha! DP here, and I lived in Alpharetta- neighbors with Deion Sanders.

And rich and famous as he is, he would not be included in those circles. It’s all about family lineage.

Uh, the point is Alpharetta is an outlier. It's high tech, transient (people move in and out due to jobs so you see people many backgrounds) and many athletes live there. Its not a good ole boy town.

what's the deal with the chicken? and did it have a name (besides Handsome)?

Handsome was the grandfather. The chicken is unnamed. He is all the chickens. I am going to abstain from chicken for a week in his or her honor.

May the chicken rest in peace.

Now isn’t this interesting, Murdaugh’s lawyer, Dick Harpootlian, is also a SC Democratic state senator.

In 10 days defense will file an appeal. Seems like there are multiple reasons that it is merited.

Also how could he get a fair and impartial jury in that small town with so much press, shows and documentaries out there?

LOL nope! My families are from KY, VA, and FL. I do live in GA now but nothing like Alpharetta.

Then you just aren’t in that circle. Because they are absolutely in GA.

As a PP pointed out, this is clearly not limited to the South, and it can go way back before 1920 (when Murdaugh's grandfather was elected Solicitor).

The perp is obviously a psychopath. Does he deserve special consideration? Hell no.
