Hell no.
Why not? Is it really going to be any worse there than here at that point.
I’m the pp going to Vienna and Budapest. I work at a hospital and multiple MD’s have said to go and not worry about it. They encourage basic precautions that the CDC recommends. I’m following cdc recs of course but so far seems very low risk for me! We’ll see by the end of March. It feels reassuring that the many MD’s at my hospital are NOT super concerned about the younger, healthy adults and children. I’m excited to go, been planning it a long time.

She would be very careful about what she touched, washing hands, etc while on the plane and traveling. She's more meticulous than I am. Once she's there she'll mostly be outdoors, not doing much in the way of tourist sites or indoor spaces.
My biggest concern would be that if she was a on a plane with people who were discovered to be infected, she could be put in quarantine without one of her parents (since we aren't flying with her). Could they, would they, do that to a minor?
Not to be off topic but they are separating parents from toddlers at the border. You really think they wouldn't put a 13 yo into quarantine by herself?
In practical terms, the likeliest thing is it will be fine, but I'd make sure I had rock-solid trust in the west coast family in case something happens.
Thanks for this (and the previous poster making the same point). I'm the parent of this 13-year-old. Yes, there's a relative on the other end who would definitely be willing and able to go into quarantine with DD if necessary.
But still...I'm not sure.

Upon our return, our 4 year old will return to our routine which includes having my in-laws (both in their 70s) drive her to and from preschool. Cancel? I already know it’ll come to that. Help my DH see that it’s the only logical and ethical thing to do.

I wouldn’t cancel. I’m not aware of any travel advisory against France.
