It is a joke academically. It's school motto is actually, "Work hard, play hard, pray hard, but most of all, be a good guy!" Seriously.
How is it an extra year of tuition for the school unless they are all repeating grades AT the school? That never happens. You are an idiot. Our son did first grade at another school then repeated 1st at MD. He’s in high school now. And yes his size and strength as well as maturity make him a starter on his IAC team. It doesn’t all even out, but keep telling yourself that. If you don’t hold your son back when you have the chance you are just biting off your nose to spite your face (or however that saying goes). Ask any coach or teacher even in any private in this area if they would prefer that your son be a year older. If they are honest with you they will tell you they LOVE older boys.

The IAC barely holds itself together. At any given moment 2 of the leagues school (likely the NOVA ones) want to kick Prep out of the IAC. Given what they did in football last year they'll probably be rumblings to at least remove them in football.
Like an earlier poster said, there's no central staff, no commissioner or anything like that. Just a group of schools that created acting in their own perceived best interests that formed a league.

This is supposed to be the IAC thread, and frankly, once you hit the HS level the age thing goes out the window.[/quote}
The discussion was based on online comments from a recent WP on Prep's win over Landon as well as a current ranking of DC based teams (mostly private w/ some {gasp} public listed as well) - talking about how Prep draws talent from holdback or delayed enrollments at Mater Dei, etc. Some good feedback - understand age isn't such a thing at varsity level.

My son played for a VA based club team for a number of years. He is now playing for an IAC team and believe me his HS experience is far more important to him than playing in summer club tournaments up and down the East Coast.
Whether your son attends a private or plays for his local public school, they will enjoy competing with their classmates to win a league championship or State championship vs winning some money grab club clown lax tournament.
Trust me, we fell into the club lax trap as 6th grade parents and spent several weekends in the summer running up 95.
I couldn’t have been more thrilled when our son told us adurinf the Spring of his freshman year he simply wanted to focus on playing for his High School.
