James Fields didn't have to kill her. Worry about him

No, Fields will stay locked up. Terry McAuliffe will continue to incite violence in our communities.

Perhaps Governor McAuliffe should lawyerup for holding back the cops and the National Guard, until someone had to get killed.

Someone should show up with a dumptruck or backhoe and just knock that thing down before September 16. That will moot the nazi-kkk protesters.

You must never have been to Richmond. The monument of Lee is ginormous. Probably the largest one that exists.

You do realize that peaceful counterprotests are as constitutionally protected as the protests themselves, right? Trumpkins seem to think that they have the right to protest, but everyone else has to STFU and not call them on their sh*t. That's not the way the 1st Amendment works. You get to hold a white pride rally. The ACLU will fight for your right to do so. And we get to protest your white pride rally.

It works until you decide that your views should not be challenged and mow down pedestrians.

Why was so much violence allowed, before the police finally stepped in?

That's a great question. And one that the law enforcement agencies at issue should be forced to answer. Because they did not want to or felt they could not stand up to men with assault weapons? Because they were more sympathetic to white protestors than they would have been to minorities? Because they were okay with the escalation? Because they were badly trained? Because they were not expecting the size and violence of the protests? Because vast left wing conspiracy?

Both sides are pointing fingers at the police and accusing them of having an agenda. But it could be they just screwed up. But this needs to be evaluated so that we know what happened and why. And it needs to serve as a case study of what not to do. Certainly, it was known well in advance. that there were going to be large scale protestsi volvong heavily armed protestors. The potential for a disaster was plain. If C-vile police couldn't handle it, they could have called the national guard. And D.C. Police 100 miles away, who are used to dealing with large scale demonstrations and could have lent expertise.

1. The cops had to obey orders.
2. Governor Terry McAuliffe actually had the National Guard on standby, apparently, but didn't allow them to act.
3. The Governor has BLOOD on his hands.

No, Richard Spencer, Corey Stewart and friends have blood on their hands.

Why do these people from other states care what a small town does with their own monument? The people of Charlottesville and their elected officials made the decision to remove the statute. Why in God's name do people from all over the country care? If they are worried about saving confederate heritage, then preserve the statutes in their own towns. But Charlottesville and its people already made a decision. So all these people, from Ohio, Nevada, WVA, PA, etc.(none of which are confederate states BTW) etc., are opportunistic carpetbaggers traveling down to Charlottesville with their own agendas and then leaving. Why didn't they attend city council meetings when this topic was up for discussion? Have they even been to Charlottesville or Virginia before? Get out and take your circus with you!

And why the fascination with Lee? I don't see people going so goo goo ga ga over Jefferson Davis, or Stuart, etc.

In America, we don't get to shut down demonstrations just because things get heated or even if a few people act out. If you could, anyone could shut down a protest just by chucking a few bottles in the air. This is the dilemma. Shame on your for blaming the Governor.

Enough. Please let this not be true.

1. Virginia needs to deal with it's lack of gun control. There is no need to open carry assault weapons in large public demonstrations. That is ridiculous. Common sense gun control should include no open carry at permitted protests.

2. DC, Baltimore, and the National Guard. There are large urban police forces/ military in the area trained to deal with protests and riots. There is excuse for not deploying the national guard and asking for D.C. Or Baltimore to send trained officers to assist.
