Anybody heard what the field situation is going to be for the spring for the teams based in Loudoun County?

2010 FCV vs ECNL (3-0-1)
FCV 1-0 over Arlington (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 2-1 over FC Delco
FCV 1-0 over Bethesda (ECNL National Semis)
FCV 1-1 to Bethesda (ECNL National Semis)

But you know, only 1 or 2 players are good enough for local ECNL teams. Maybe they should just move over the entire team to ECNL-RL, that way regular ECNL teams wouldn't have to worry about losing to them.

2009 FCV vs ECNL (2-4-0)
FCV 3-2 over Bethesda
FCV 0-2 loss to PDA Blue (ECNL NATIONAL Champions)
FCV 0-1 loss to SUSA (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 1-3 loss to NVA (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 2-1 over NVA (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 0-7 loss to Penn Fusion (Ouch, that's a bad one)

Despite the one blowout, the 09s still played close games to some of the very best ECNL teams. Looking at PDA's record, VDA also lost 2-0 at the same tournament to PDA Blue, but hey you know, FCV players aren't good enough for them either.

2008 FCV vs ECNL (2-1-3)
FCV 2-0 over PDA Blue (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 2-0 over SUSA (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 2-3 loss to NC Courage (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 1-1 tie to SUSA (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 0-0 tie to Penn Fusion (ECNL National Semis)
FCV 2-2 tie to PDA Blue (ECNL Playoffs)

Wins over ECNL Playoff teams and only one loss in 6 games to ECNL playoff teams, VA parents like "that's not good enough and only 1 or 2 of your players are worthy"

2007 FCV vs ECNL (2-3-1)
FCV 0-1 loss to PDA Blue (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 2-1 over World Class (ECNL National Semis)
FCV 1-5 loss to Penn Fusion (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 0-0 tie to SUSA (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 2-1 over Penn Fusion (ECNL Playoffs)
FCV 1-2 loss to World Class (ECNL Playoffs)

Congrats on the results playing NE teams in fall pre season events when those teams have been playing HS from August to November. Interesting to see how they play at Jeff Cup.

That is called an excuse I believe. Couldn’t FCV just use the same excuse in Vice Versa kinda way? Those results are actually over the past year and not from Fall. I could be wrong but I think 2010s are still in Middle School too.

Anyway, what’s it even matter anymore if the players are going to scatter?

So BP & CC get to spread the toxic culture they created to two new clubs? Thank god our current club didn't hire them.

Some loved it there, some hated it, just like every club. I know several who used to love it, and over the years they soured on those two. The environment they created at FCV was great if you were "in" with them, you get injured or fall out, and the tone changes quickly. Not to mention the dynamics they fostered among the players. None of it was worth it for a teenage kid's mental wellness and confidence.

We watched our daughter and several others blossom as players after they left that program. We know several families still with FCV; and even before this, at least a few planned to move on next season. Some have been practicing with other clubs when they have a day off from FCV. Not because BP & CC were leaving, but to move on from them. There is a core group that will follow those two, and if they pull enough, they can have a decent team. But no way they are pulling a full team.

Not everyone is chasing a D-1 scholarship. And not every kid who is chasing one will get one. Never cared about the GA vs. ECNL argument, it is amazing to see the "discussions" here on that front. To some of us, having our kids develop and get to play and enjoy a game that they love at a high(er) level is enough. Then let the chips fall where they may.

They may win more games, but good luck to Revolution and VDA and the players there, you are going to need it.

Some people who have been who for years will recognize the penmanship of this post. Same guy that has conspiracy theories about a US Scout and BP. A well known FCV and BP hater on forums. Enjoy!

Revolution families won’t bat an eye at this. They’ve suffered NE for so long they’re undoubtedly nearing total immunity to toxicity…

Can you elaborate on the "toxic culture" you're referring to? Also, what age group(s) is your experience from?

Yes but why did it sound like getting a 50% scholarship to william and mary is not a good thing?

Arguing about GA and ECNL doesn’t really matter - the bread and butter are kids that don’t want to play with sherms in rec leagues but want to play in a regional sport. Parents want close and secure field space, trustworthy and capable coaches, and a vision bigger than getting kids half scholarships at William and Mary. Loco peeps can pay for college.

STJ just pissed away almost $800k in recurring revenue that they really didn’t do anything for. Didn’t help get fields, coaches, players, or rent any actual space at the STJ facility. I assume CC, Bobby, and others saw the uselessness of playing under a barnacle.

The real knife is promoting AB to any sort of leadership position. Dude lost all the Barca boys that were gifted to FCV, is almost blacklisted at Loudoun PRCS, and is widely known as an ultra-right wing Loco reply guy on Facebook (of course, with FCV right below his name for everyone to see).

Everyone doesn’t like NE at VRSC, but he has built an environment that kids and parents have fun at. I know you nerds lose sight of being normal people and live through your kids travel soccer team, but that’s what’s desired.

Honest question regarding the part about 'half scholarships at W&M.' What do you mean?

Totally agree with all of this.

They mean all the FCV girls getting 1/2 their college costs covered by soccer scholarship.

Well, everybody wants to be on a winning team, right? It’s fun to win and a lot of parents obviously enjoy bragging about how “awesome” their kids team is. This message board definitely attracts those type of people.

To your point, which I agree with, if your DC is playing in the Jeff Cup showcase weekend, for example, and coaches from a school that they’re interested in and have communicated that interest to are going to be there, they’re going to be able to see your player regardless of whether their team is playing in the top bracket, the bottom bracket or somewhere in between. Yes, the brackets are often spread out among different fields so that may require some traveling, but the point is, if a college coach is interested in you, they’re not going to say “oh no, your team isn’t in a high enough bracket so I’m not going to bother watching you play.” That’s not simply my opinion but rather my experience.

The twist is that an ECNL team will have more events with coaches present, so they may be watching someone else during the Jeff Cup, but may be able to come out to a league game because there are four other girls they are looking at who will be playing. If your kid plays for a lower league, it may be one or two tournaments or bust
