This outfit is successful whereas Usha's outfit is not because even though the cotton poplin and the satin are a contrast in both texture and color, they have similar weight and similar visual weight. There is a balance- you'll notice the clingier fabric is covering more of her body as well, so the proportions work too. Imagine this outfit with a short skirt- it wouldn't work at all.
Yes, people like Sharon stone are in the advanced class and can break the rules and still look good. The rest of us are still in the basic level class and need to stick to the basic rules. You have to be really good at fashion to pull off something like this, which is why it got so much attention.
Other than DCUM, where did I this outfit get attention?
Are you kidding me or are you just young? This was a big deal and everyone loved it and I'd say it's famous. She also wore a gap black turtleneck one time I believe with a skirt that also looked great.

The hair reminds me of what a 2015 mormon lifestyle blogger. All she needs is a blanket scarf, oversized "sunnies," and some over-the-knee boots.

Let’s take a moment to fully appreciate this photo, all, since my quip was so viciously deleted.
What exactly is she doing here? Reading? Taking notes? Does anyone here actually believe that Ivanka can read? Is it even humanly possible for the way she is sitting to be comfortable doing any of those things? Could any outfit possibly scream “HEY YOU GUYS LOOK AT MY ELEGANT CASUAL WEAR YOU GUYS!?!” more than this one?
I have never seen someone trying so hard to be pretentious and failing so beautifully.

Thank you to the person on this board who taught me how to post images on DCUM months ago! Now I can contribute to the nonsense.

All they had to do was find some wigs. And swords. Purple, red, black, literally anything other than their natural blonde. It’s only hard to find wigs and swords on Halloween if you are half-assing it so much that you bought the costume the day of. I say this because I was still sewing my son’s costume at 5 pm yesterday but it turned out much better than this.

About 20 years ago I had pants with a slit like that but it was on the side, not the front.
I have some Lafayette 148 pants with a slit on the side like that from about 5 years ago, I still wear them because they fit me perfectly.
I’ve seen slit pants in a bunch of stores. I love them but have resisted since they are the definition of a trend.
