I was simply talking about building more is not an sane option in RM cluster and situation is not comparable to Bethesda at all.

Now some council members don't care of kids education and want to build so surely it's an option for them.

BOE members don’t care about the success of Rockville or the Town Center. You understand that the board of Ed is elected to take care of education right? They have no say on how the city develops. The city council is elected to make the city successful. These are different groups with different goals.

No. Perceived quality of the schools is the biggest driver of where people want to live. It’s why houses in the Wootton cluster are so much more expensive than comparable homes in the Richard Montgomery or Rockville clusters. For that reason, it seems logical to put more housing in Wootton cluster.

If Wooton’s district were that popular it would already be under moritorium. Say what you want about prices but population growth proves you wrong.

In Wootton there are not many pockets where high rises are allowed, otherwise we will be seeing development there as well.


Solution is to make RM cluster 70-80% % capacity by change in boundary and that will allow future growth. Increasing 120% limit is not a solution.

No, that is what YOU want and it is what some politicians are pushing for because they think they are in a position to make some money. It’s all about greed.

If people only wanted Metro access, there would not be all the development upcountry in Clarksburg.

SFH prices in my neighborhood have gone up over the past 5 years. Condos and townhouses have gone down. Why? There is an oversupply of condos/townhouses. And people still do want a SFH with easy parking.

People move to MoCo to have the ease that comes with living in the suburbs. You may prefer urbanization. Not all of us want to urbanize MoCo. You are more than welcome to love to DC. Or even Bethesda. Plenty of good urban options in this area.

Agree with above views.

Building more in RM cluster is not an option till we take care our existing over crowding.

MCPS has hired a consultant or probably going to hire to recommend some boundary changes by mid July. City should work with MCPS here if city really want to do anything practical. TB ES should be moved out of RM. That way TB can develop rapidly and TC can also develop rapidly.

Wootton doesn't have space and there is less room to play around on that side of boundary. We have lots of HS on TB side. Also, this whole issue to raise RM limit is coming due to condos in TB. TB not being part of RM will allow TB to develop at faster rate.

Yes, by all means let’s not discuss overcrowding Wootton. Keep the overcrowding issues at RM only. The Wootton cluster should not have to take in any additional development or students (sarcasm).

[b]The proposed new building is not in the Ritchie Park boundary, so why think about moving RP to Gaithersburg or Wootton? The building is in Twinbrook and many in the Twinbrook community want it, so it makes more sense to make adjustments there. There is also already approved development in the Rustin boundaries - the new Tower Oaks development.
