Anthropologie is no longer there (at least not the one at the corner of Rockville Pike and Nicholson). It's a tile place now, I think. I just passed it last weekend and was thinking how before it was Anthropologie it was Borders (before it went to White Flint and crashed and burned). Across the street from that was Fresh Fields, which later became Whole Foods. This was the early 90s and I was already a (young) adult. I did not grow up here, but I've been here 25 years since college.
And before it was a Borders it was a clothing store called Alcott & Andrews. That was back in the early days of women's business suits. I still have a hanger from there. I got a couple of suits and several of those cotton high neck blouses with the big bow ties.

$1.05 matine at the Baronnet Theatre on Wisconsin by the Post Office - the theater is no longer there. I watched the original True Grit there and Oliver before that and Gone with the Wind before that.

Didn't Congressional Plaza have a movie theater once? Why do I remember being in line by the part that is to the left of Starbucks?

The mechanical pencils that had a bunch of mini cartidges that you would slide into the body of the pencil - which was really a hollow tube. When one piece of lead got blunt, you would put it in the back of the pencil and push to expose the new, sharp lead.

When the first McDonalds opened on Rockville Pike and we drove 25 minutes to experience my first burger in a bag. So impressive!! I remember wondering if my Dad could ever be important enough to get a job there.
