So what. Winning a GA national championship is like winning Jeff cup. No one cares.
Recruiters care.
Being on a GA team that wins the national title mean full ride scholarships for a large percentage of the players.
Or, you can get worked at ECNL events that are dominated by California and Texas teams. Maybe your kid will get noticed for how well they lost to Surf or Solar. 🤣
“Mom we only lost to surf 10-0 this time” but the good thing is, college coaches saw it!!”

Full rides are either issued to USYNT members or a select few. 90% of players are offered 10% to 50% of tuition. Many are actually offered 0% at top ranked Universities if they are not an impact player.
FCV and Union have produced the top classes for at least 5 years straight and now VDA and Loudoun are breaking through. Both have had players with full rides but that is a rarity.
If you are not a USYNT pool player, than being recruited is probably 60% of the player contacting coaches, 20% of who your player is surrounded by on the field (winning/quality teammates) and 10% from the Club Coach, probably even less. Remember, it’s hard to look good if you don’t have players around you to help.
GA has been going down hill but losing Nats, Ukies and Rush is another big blow and I think it will only hurt College Scouts attending events even more. That said, a good GA team is still going to out produce a bad ECNL team. But once you get past the top GA teams, it’s going to be very hard even compared to bad ECNL teams.
If leagues were so good at placing players in college there wouldn't be so many transferring.
The reality is youth soccer and college soccer are just old boys networks.
I wish there was something like MLS Next but for girls to cut through all the BS.
Leagues don’t place players. Clubs and coaches place players. The transfer portal is a big thing in men’s soccer too. ECNL Girls and MLSNext are the 2 best leagues. There’s really no debate.

Anonymous wrote:The debate here about college recruiting from GA and ECNL is ridiculous. Unlike the “which teams are more competitive” debate, recruiting results are knowable, just look at the clubs’ websites. Anyone who suggests that FCV’s placement success isn’t at least as good as any other club in the DMV either hasn’t taken the time to inform themselves or is lying. There is no debate on the historical results. The future given the coaching carousel is debatable.

Sadly, I don’t think a team from nova would win a natty in GA either lol
So why brag about playing ECNL lmao. Just like GA, unless you are playing on one of the top clubs….you are just paying fees lmao
