I understand statistics. Which means I understand that bringing a gun into my home increases my chances of my child getting killed by a gun way more than it decreases my chances of protecting myself in some shootout with a carjacker.

So … because I’m not a dipshit, I’m not going to buy a gun.

Cool cool.

That’s your choice. Just like abortion. Don’t like abortions? Don’t get one. Don’t like guns? Don’t get one.

But you DON’T get to tell me I can’t have an abortion. Or a gun.

Understand now?

You write like a man. Do you even have a uterus?

He identifies as a woman.
Do you have a problem with that?

The entire reason OP felt like she wanted a CCW was because of Republican policies.

F them.

You may want to read it again. She is getting a CCW because the current DC government, run entirely by democrats, is failing to protect it citizens.

Both parties are at fault. Republicans historically, for closing mental asylums nationwide and turning the people who’d otherwise be institutionalized loose among us, and Democrats now, who fail to put criminals in jails. So thanks to both parties, we’re surrounded by crazy and/or violent people. So F’ yes I want a damn gun. The only people I can count on in this whole world to protect our family are my H and me.

Why do we act like nothing can be changed? We are allowed to enact new national laws. In fairness, while the laws on institutionalization changed under Reagan, I'd imagine it was fairly bipartisan supported based on decades of abuse and advocacy by patient rights groups. And yes, the pendulum needs to swing back to more institutionalization, hopefully better enacted. Write the accountability part into law!

Likewise, when we start to see most of these crazy/violent people confined again, either in asylums or prison, instead of out running rampant in our communities, and after crime rates fall off accordingly, THEN we can discuss reducing guns, since there won’t be as much demonstrable need for self-defense. But until the it’s a complete nonstarter. If you want people like us to give up our guns, show me a dramatic increase in the number of people incarcerated and a corresponding drastic drop in violent crime. When that happens, I’ll stop carrying a gun.

Why do you think we have crimes? Underlying economic disparities, which the Rs don't want to acknowledge or fix. And easy access to guns, which the Rs have pushed for decades.

Because democratic policies make it a risk free hobby/occupation.

These days it is possible for a man to have a uterus.

Even in this crazy mixed up world getting a CCW is a choice. At least in most states. People are free to chose.

I’m the PP this person quoted when she asked “if I even have a uterus?”.

I do not. I had it removed due to leiomyomas after our second child. Odd that you think you can tell such a thing based on prose

I hope things get better for her. She’s clearly in a bad place emotionally right now.

+1000000000

I would love to know how many of these anti gun people are pro abortion. I’m expecting close to 100%.

I am pro gun and pro abortion, before anyone asks.

I hope I never have to, but CCW is just like having car insurance. You hope you never need it but if/when you need it, you are glad you have it.
