Wait—is that true? They can’t adjourn without a majority either? I have been puzzling over why KM keeps holding votes with no prospect of a change.

It’s the way of the republican. When someone is down spit and kick them.

McCarthy can’t muster 218 votes to adjourn. Gaetz and co. are letting him twist in the wind.

Bummer that multiple people on this thread think it’s acceptable to call someone fat to denigrate them, especially when there are plenty of substantive critiques

Why would they do that? GOP is majority. If 6 GOP want to stop this circus they can reach out to Jefferies. Not Dems place to do the heaving lifting. Again, THIS IS NOT DEMS RESPONSIBILITY.

That's never going to happen.

Time for McCarthy to step aside.

Well, it is official that the GOP is insane. But we already knew this.

At this point, after McCarthy loses five votes, stop counting, and start over. No Dems will vote for him.

I think you're wrong. My relatives, who are all moderate/independent sometimes-voters in NC, have been texting me asking wtf is going on. The last time that happened was Jan 6th.

What is your position/occupation in DC?

I work in politics. They're totally uninterested in it. LOL

Bingo. It's on the news so they are interested. My family similarly texts me when things happen in my area of expertise,

I agree. But it's the opposite of the claim I was responding to. They do care.

Sigh - they "care" because someone they know is close to the action. If you were an insurance salesman in Charlottesville I doubt they'd be texting you with interest.
