I actually fail to see what the issue is. If you're walking past the spot again, and you've tied the bag shut, why not put it down and pick it up again? You don't have to drop it in someone's plant bed, there are usually spots that are out-of-the-way (safe from being stepped on) but not really IN someone's yard. Then again, I really don't care if someone throws away bagged poop in my garbage. It's a garbage can. so...put your garbage in it?

I am increasingly amused by the frothing anti-dog crowd on DCUM. You people really need a hobby. It's a beautiful day! Stop banging angrily on your keyboard about the existence of dogs. Or move to the isolated country where you won't have to encounter people or their pets since you can't handle that.

This is going on right now? Even if I didn't have a kid at that school I'd talk to the school and point it out, and offer to put up or pay for a damned sign right at the spot saying not to leave dog dropping bags there. It's a public health issue in that location, for heaven's sake.

That's so egregiously nasty. Those owners think the school maintenance people are going to clean up those bags, I'm pretty sure. Vile.

I hate this so much. It'd be better if they just left the crap on the ground because at least it'd wash away or decompose. Leaving it in plastic guarantees it just stays there. Definitely rings the park for everyone.

Am I missing something? The first pp said they have dropped them but went back, picked it back up and continued home. What’s gross about doing that?

To the op, I would guess it’s been dropped, unless it’s the same type of bag done several times.

Why are you dropping bags of poop? No. Carry it with you until you find an appropriate place to dispose of it. This is not hard.

In our neighborhood everyone who walks their dogs and do a full neighborhood loop will drop the bags and pick them up upon return. It’s only an issue if they don’t ever pick them up going back. A bag of dog poop on the edge of your property for 30 minutes is a big deal?

Of course it is -- carry your own crap. What if the person whose house you are polluting has guests arriving during your lovely walk? -- Oh Hi, new in laws I've never met before, never mind the steaming bag of poo the neighbor left to greet you.

I actually SAW this at a national park once -- in fact, at Manassas battlefield. A freaking national monument where people died. A pile of maybe five or six different poop bags all placed oh so carefully at the base of a tree that stood at the end of a wooded walking trail. Who are these owners who believe the park service has the time, staff and money to clean up their precious dogs' crap?

OP may be generalizing but you seem unaware that this happens far more than you realize. On trails, on suburban streets, and especially on city streets. Some dog owners think it's fine if they leave the bags in the gutter. I guess the thinking might be that "its the curb and that's where trash gets swept up by the street sweeper/it'll get picked up by the garbage collectors whenever they make their rounds to empty residentail garbage cans" or whatever. But unfortunately, PP, there really ARE people who do this as their regular disposal of their dog doo. Just bags tossed in the gutter, to wash down into the storm drains, split open and spill out dog poop, sit there and bake in the sun and smell....So please don't think OP is being a snowflake.

OP, if this happens regularly it's probably one single owner, and they're walking regularly by your house, so I would wait and watch to see that person. If you don't see a regular dog walker dump a baggie, I'd still ask that person, "Have you seen any other dog walkers who come through this neighborhood who are dropping blue bags of dog poop by the curbs on in yards? Someone has done it X times in this spot in front of my house and I'm wondering if you've seen anyone like that." If the person IS the culprit you'll have sent a message that you're aware of this, and if the person is not, well, he or she will be fine with the query. But always wait with your camera ready to record it if you actually see it happen. How incredibly gross and rude.
