Ever so slightly amused smile and silence.

Living your best life/milk of human kindness smile but look at your watch after 20 seconds.

Yes this is what I would do, or just give an empty "nice to meet you" anyway.

I think something like “Hi, hello” with a shallow smile and a couple head nods to reply to whatever niceties they say would work. Then say by or do a slight hand wave to end the conversation.
