I like Grace, too. If Soleil was mostly your idea, I think you should let your husband have some more say over the middle name. And vice versa if Soleil was mostly his idea.

I will say, your kid will either love it or hate it. And if she hates it, she may very well gravitate toward a more traditional name like Grace.


I'm saying that as someone who has an "Adam" (can't be more traditional than that), who'd much rather be a Logan or Braydon or Kai right now. Too bad for him, but all his names are pretty darned traditional and boring.

That’s a real shame OP. My daughter has a friend with that name and I just think it’s beautiful.

Wow. I was liking Solveig as a name, which has a similar sound to Soleil (accent on different syllables though). Now I'm second-guessing considering how close-minded people still are with names from other languages.
