You think this is a real thing?
You think you can spot these kids and admissions officers at ivy league schools can't?

But once upon a time, UVA was in the top 20, several times.
So it’s gone downhill[/quote,
According to USNWR, so has pretty much every other public school (other than UCLA, which I don't think was even ranked early on).

Yes, that was me. I realize this is Nerd Central and none of you can relate. The point is that people move on. College is over. I’m surprised that with your college educations you are all too obtuse to grasp the analogy.
People move on but you’re talking about the high school football star. Lord you’re a moron.
Played college sports myself. But hey, high school football is a really special achievement. Pretty cool sport for kids too. Good for the brain. Keeps the line of morons going.
Yea you’ve piped in before. We get it. You weren’t tough enough for football. Take your own advice and get over it already.
Not the pp, but you definitely give “peaked in high school” energy. It’s really sad, football used to give you confidence and now that it’s over you’re deeply insecure. Hence, why you say other people aren’t “tough enough” for football lol.
You people really are seriously obtuse if that’s really how you interpreted that post. I’m in a room full of idiots I guess.
Meathead and a moron. Definitely one to be giving college advice.
Ok champ

+1
I know some kids who are superstars, with zero input by the parents.
I also know some kids who are average, possibly below average, but their parents have big money by fluke (mostly by way of timing), and basically bribes their way into college with $1m+ donation/s, under the guise of "athlete". So, you have no way of knowing who is who unless you know that family, directly.

Anonymous wrote:I listened to Dean J's instagram videos last fall because my kids were interested in UVA. She also led our admissions information session in person in January 2020. She is SUPER nice, but also you need to know that she makes it seem much easier to get into UVA than it is. They still want all those insane things, and the tippy top GPA and scores. I remember walking away from those sessions saying, wow sounds like anyone can get in. And then admissions came and people were of course denied right and left. My kids happened to get in, because they have GPAs and class ranks in the area that UVA wants them, along with average to above average ECs and acceptable test scores, but a whole bunch of awesome kids were declined of course. My point is take what she says with a grain of salt (much as I love her).
