Turns out he had bought it for his wife, and she absolutely did not want it. SHE was (and is) driving a little red sports car.

If you drove responsibly, I'd think you were a total badass. If you drove like a jerk, I'd think you were an assh***.

I like how you askterisked out the "hat" part of the word and not "ass!"

Go for it.

I drive a Golf R. But, it's just me and my daughter. I can't tell you the number of times people have told me I needed to get an SUV for the sole reason, I have a kid. It makes NO sense!

DP, yes, I care what others think, to some limited extent, but not zero. Why? Because I'm human and being human means I am a social animal.

One of the advantages of being in your 40s is that you no longer GAF about what other people think. It’s awesome.

I tell you what my moms old 1971 Buick Estate Wagon with a 455 ci engine and seating for 9 at 21 feet long I drove at 18 a lot safer than a new Toyota.

I survive a head on collision with a Tesla without a Scratch

No, that's such a myth that simply will not die. "Oh, this old tank surrounded by steel is so much safer than these little modern cars that are all plastic."

that said, I would think it's cool that you owned it. but drive it with an open eye toward the risk differential. be very careful.

I hear you. But at some point, what car to drive is really none of anyone's business. As long as you keep your kids safely strapped in and not drag racing, drive something that makes you happy. If I were in the carpool lane behind you, I would think you are one cool mama.

I happen to drive an old beat up SUV that we absolutely love and still runs like a good workhorse. I don't even a flying thought on what those fancy moms in their fancy cars think.
