His employer should have known what was going on long before it was found out by a foreign government, so why aren't the victims being given meaningful restitution complements of the taxpayers of the United States?[/quote
WTF? I hope they nail him too

I met one Canadian FSO couple where the husband was weirdly controlling - had his wife on an allowance, like she had to call him when we were all out to get permission to buy a $10 shirt (and btw she was also a white Canadian so it wasn’t that dynamic) or go anywhere. I saw a lot of infidelity and short tempered men. A lot of the people that work abroad from the US are great people and just ambitious or committed to the work....but there is a pretty healthy segment that, well, it doesn’t seem like anybody misses them here in the US.

I’ve found the info in this thread fairly depressing. A deadly combination of economic disparity, institutional secrecy, and diplomatic immunity seems to attract some creepy men. Obviously not all but has to be more than in the general population.
Anyone who lives the majority of their adult life abroad and hopping from country to country has a screw loose. Some very normal seeming people live that lifestyle and I’ve always assumed they are incredibly messed up in the head and up to something.

The Embassy Marine Guards, alone, could fill a prison
I worked at an embassy in the early 00s. The Marine security guards were the nicest, sweetest young guys. Lonely and overeager and honestly, not bright for the most part, but not creeps, predators, or abusers.

This foreign service officer, Brian Jeffrey Raymond (45), just plead guilty in federal court to sexually assaulting and drugging several women in Mexico City where he was deployed. Upon a search of his hard and cloud drives, the FBI found over 400 pictures of nude and drugged women in various apartments.
He's been tasked to 6-7 different countries on behalf of the U.S. government, speaks Spanish/Chinese fluently, and used Ambien+ alcohol to drug his victims from at least 2006.

Raymond transported these obscene materials, specifically 479 photographs and videos of 20 unconscious and nude or partially nude women, into the United States. While under investigation, Raymond attempted to delete the photographs and videos from his devices and internet accounts and made materially false statements to law enforcement.
Gawd, he’s gorgeous…..
Why is doing this when women are probably throwing themselves at him already? That pic makes me swoon…. Ugh. So frustrating. Why do attractive men do this stuff? They don’t need to.
