They've been on top for so long and team essentially unchanged, lack advancement in play. Happens to all previously great teams. Hope they get back for US soccer sake.
The best thing for US Soccer's sake would be for them to be eliminated and move forward trying to progress the sport from the Stone Age style they currently are playing.
Rip the band-aid off and start making serious changes.
There are no financial incentives in place to change how soccer in the us is structured and operates. Our talent needs to go somewhere else to develop.

Rapinoe and Morgan ‘s experience can only longer compensate for their speed
Australia is gonna come out inspired and try to knock the us in the mouth

She wore the C on her arm at multiple levels.
She was injured during the e player selection training pool in 2020 and plays at the logjam forward position.
Very uncool escalation by you

No. The backline and midfield was destroyed last night. Women’s soccer in the US never sees that style of play and does not select players based on that style of play. We are about one on one attacking/defending and highly reliant on athleticism. We are very predictable, not very creative and turn the ball over way too much. People thought Pugh was the next big thing. She did not make the team. Rodman is an unknown. Even if she was great we still have midfield and defender problems.
I was the one who mentioned Rodman and didn't mean to hijack the thread. I was just mentioning her as a future star, not a replacement right now.
As to Pugh, suspect there might be some attitude problem, but I've never been able to confirm that.
I would like to see Andy Sullivan get a shot in the midfield soon.

It wouldn't hurt but I think the USWNT problems are bigger than just a couple of players.
Much of their problem that goes along with age is the style of play has remained stagnant. They have not evolved and likely with it, have not evolved in player identification and training downstream either. There have been additions but no major turnover on this team in 10 years.
Europe has gained and and they are only gaining faster and faster.
We will always be big and fast but will we ever add technical and smart, top to bottom to that equation?
