Youre a rec coach and not sure about baseball but soccer your basically the adult in charge nothing more. The bad habits kids have in rec may make them look good in rec but they quickly are behind if they come to travel.
Irrelevant to the point as to whether baseball players are unathletic.

You don't know how many older Rec parents think their kids is an absolute star. Ummm, the bar is pretty low for the kids playing Rec at 11-12 years old. Put them in a travel game in top league/division and see how they do.
