It sucked in so many ways and it definitely sucked more than for others, but FFS, get out of the bitter barn and play in the hay (Phoebe in a Friends episode).

Can anyone post a link? I’m not seeing anything controversial and wondering if I was blocked by someone LOL.

I don't know how to post a link from Facebook, but the first name of the OP was Karina.

In fairness, that commenter also said she’s a frontline health care worker, and our society broadly makes child care a challenge for essential workers. It’s in those moments that I do realize how lucky I had it having a job I could do from home, so no wonder why she was so offended when she was told to just get over it. And then icing on the cake being told by AEM’s most flagrant and frequent ad hominem attack dog who pounced and just wouldn’t stop attacking. She’s one of the ones who has turned me off from proactively checking that group for useful info.

I’m not saying it didn’t suck a lot for her, and I’m sorry for what she went through. But I’m more alarmed by what she seems to STILL be going through, as she seems stuck in focusing on what went wrong. While I don’t agree with much of what the responding poster typically posts, or the manner in which they do so, I agree that at some point everyone needs to get unstuck and move forward. Otherwise it’s just unhealthy for her and her kids. The continuing rage that so many seem to feel and publicly post is disconcerting.

The attacker is a well known troll who doesn't even use her real name. And the poster was simply warning a person who just moved to Arlington about what went on this past year.

Again, the "moderator" is an absolute joke. Those attacks are so disgusting and that moderator is also disgusting for letting that occur.

Sure - get over the fact that APS harmed your children and not let anyone know who just moved here. Ventilation Woman, CO2 Monitor Woman, Lunch Petitioner - is that you again?

You again? APS didn't harm my child because I did not focus on the negative. They adjusted through many, many changes and got through the year. Maybe their education was not at the level as full in person school, but that's okay. There's next year (with five days a week of school) to look forward to. Kids are resilient.

But you will continue to blame the same three people instead of a pandemic. Got it.

Geez could you be a more awful person. Who are you to say she is "stuck"? I think she went through something very few are relating too and she is understandably upset that people often dismiss this issue as trite and silly which is exactly what it comes off as.

And yes the moderator is terrible for not stopping those troll accounts from constantly attacking people. It's what led me to believe she is either the troll or is friends with them and knows and agrees.

Eh, I skimmed AEM and didn't say anything overtly horrible. Most of the recent discussion is useful, actually.

At least don't post with your real name. So embarrassing!!

I see comments here insulting AEM all the time, noting it is pure folly to post under your real name, and then going on to make even more insulting crackpot comments than you would see on AEM.

So which is worse, posting your true self on AEM, warts and all, or posting anonymous potshots on DCUM?

I don’t post at all on AEM but I don’t think we’re any nobler over here, and in fact are worse because the anonymity makes jerks courageous.

In short, everybody sucks.

Definitely posting crazy sh1t on AEM under your real name is worse.

"No unions, mama"

I couldn’t read past the first few nonsensical posts. Are they back to complaining about teachers unions? What’s next? Complaining about teachers again?

Imagine being a teacher and reading some mean post about you by your student’s parent. Ugh. People suck.

This AEM stuff sounds like a hot mess. I have considered joining just to know what it's all about, but this makes it sound like drama that would raise my blood pressure. I'm a pragmatist and realize the only power I would have in this mess is to go private.

Yeah, it's pretty sad that some people won't let go of what happened last year. I'm in the camp that it sucked, but getting Coronavirus would have been much worse. They can't look past their own inconvenience to see that others may have been affected in the community, particularly last Fall when there was no vaccine. And before anyone starts, looking to Texas and Florida will get a big eye roll here. Science doesn't apply when whole states hide data.

I also agree with the poster above that DCUM is no better than AEM.
