Now with all this talk about Delta and how quickly it's spreading (30% of US cases are now Delta as opposed to 10% a week ago) + how you only need a few seconds of exposure + how if it breaks thru the vaccine people still get really sick (so the vax doesn't guarantee asymptomatic or mild) + combined with the fact that life is resuming, I'm expected to be in office buildings and elevators etc. while most people are stopping masking (or maybe only 40-50% are masking in any situation), is it time to go back to double masks or KN95?
Or is the vax (mRNA) still holding up enough that this isn't necessary? I mean I figured I'd be back to double masking in the fall - not in the heat of the Virginia summer.
Anonymous wrote:Yes; going back to double mask.
Delta is highly virulent, deadly, and the vaccines offer only partial protection.
Not risking it.

Right? I wonder what the endpoint is for these people if it isn’t effective vaccination that prevents serious illness and hospitalization. You’re really going to hide forever from a cold?
Before you start mocking people maybe look at the new data. For the other variants yes -- it prevented serious illness and hospitalization. For Delta it's different. If it doesn't break thru the vax you're fine. If it breaks thru you are at just as much risk for serious illness/hospital as if you weren't vaccinated. Look at the latest UK data.
So yeah you should want to NOT be exposed to this one.

Look it up - I'm not your junior associate. Hint - do searches for UK hospitalizations and see what comes up from the last few days.

No, it’s not the “beginning.” This started a year and a half ago. Omg the delta strain is just what the covid crazies were hoping for.

We just need to transform as a society who actually cares about other people. We should all wear masks indoors and maybe outdoors too (just to be safe). It will prevent us getting colds, flu and covid. We need to work from home at least 3 days per week to minimize the risks. Children should wear masks at all times because they spread germs. We can do it! But we are all very very selfish. It is all about Me me me.
This is a troll trying to mess with the rationale people.

Like new variants are popping up, don't have as great vax coverage, need seconds of exposure rather than minutes? Does mentally done = eh I'll take my chances?
My thoughts are if it is that transmissible then yes I will take my chances. Because if it evades vaccines then what is the end game? Stay inside for a few more years?
BTW -- newest info on Delta is that if it breaks thru the vax it is not like the other versions where it's a mild illness. If it breaks thru, the risk of hospitalization etc. is the same as it is for unvaccinated people. Per the UK where hospitalizations are up despite vax being up (though they're using a different vax).
But it … doesn’t get through (see earlier in thread)
