I can see how folks with traditional / colonial tastes would have fallen for it as it was very well prepped: nothing super high end, just everything cleanly renovated and in its place. Yes, the location/schools are great, but $2.3+?? I get the location argument, but this is just not a cool enough house for that even in this market.
Not comparable in terms of style/taste and walkability, but this place sold recently, also zoned for Murch, across the street from Rock Creek Park, about as close to downtown (and probably a nicer drive). I'd prefer this house at equivalent prices (e.g. even if the original house sold at $1.8), let alone with an extra $500k in my pocket...

On an unrelated note, remember the alleged story of a 2008 Trump sale of a house to a Russian billionaire at allegedly a premium?
Allegedly.
That is exactly along the lines of what we allegedly heard. Allegedly. One way to settle this, who’s the alleged buyer?
And they can explain why in the world someone would want to overpay for the house of someone who worked for an Administration that is no longer in power. Alleged Russian billionaires are smarter than that.
