All of this is completely true. I have become increasingly disillusioned with America since living in a European country years ago. Admittedly, it was a wealthy European country, but for their taxes everyone received:
-health care
-18 months of parental leave between the two parents
-preschool from age 3
-low cost university
-6 weeks of paid vacation if you were employed
-a living wage
-robust public transportation
It was incredibly eye-opening and yet most Americans have been cowed by fear of something they don't understand and don't seem to want to.

White boomer men didn't have to complete with minorities, immigrants, overseas labor, etc. Their education and housing was heavily subsidized or protected by the government. They have used their accumulated wealth as the middle and upper middle class to completely dominate the job market, economy, and politics. Now because of demographic changes they aren't interested in passing on those benefits to the rest of society. It doesn't benefit them.
Generalize much?! You're categorizing an entire group of people in a very negative way. Bet you wouldn't like that kind of generalization to be reversed.
Hey, I've got a time machine that will take you back to 1950. There's one catch. You'll be black when you get there. Want a ride?
Doesn't the race deflection get old? The OP is correct, the younger generation will have it harder. Homes will cost more, gas, food and it won't be as easy in many ways. It's obvious.

Could not agree more.
And then who will you blame? Your misery will be your own.
Oh they'll still be responsible for the things they've done. It follows you through history. Ask the Nazis.
Your life will be evaluated in light of what you have done or not done. No one is going to be blaming previous generations.
Um, we are a country that places HUGE blame (rightly so) on previous generations for slavery. You think our descendants are going to look fondly at the Boomers? Nope.

In the article Going to college was more important for today's 40-year-olds. Millennials with bachelor's degrees or higher earn 113% more than what they would have earned with only a high-school diploma. But college-educated Baby Boomers made only 57% more than their peers with high school degrees.
So where did those non-college educated boomers work? Many in manufacturing where they got union wages. example: boomer worked in heavy or light industry or made furniture or textiles in a factory. Those jobs don't exist anymore in the USA so the equivalent non college educated person now might get a job in the expanded restaurant or retail sector in a store or distribution center. Contraction of higher paying jobs and massive expansion of lower paying jobs. There are also categories of expenses that the average boomer entered zero $ from stuff like nail salons to cleaning services to lawn services for small plots. A boomer could scrape their way through college in STEM and get a decent job. Now there are over 500k jobs in the USA really not available to millennials. Globalism didn't work out so well for many.
Black people were often excluded from unions.
A boomer born in 1945 would be 25 in 1970 and 30 in 1975. 30s is prime income years, so I'd say Boomers were running things then. Or at least voting for the policies and people who were running things.
And if they were in unions they could have been excluded from the more responsible and higher paying jobs. So the boomers were NOT the people wielding power in the 1920's through 1970's. They were not even born for most of that time period. Old boomers include the AA in this article and there were even AA Army vets [WW2 and up] who were shut out of better union private industry jobs when they performed similar or more complex jobs in the military.

In the 1970's AA were in non HBC majoring in things from STEM to business. Jobs and recruiting etc were open. So an AA boomer born in mid to late 50's plus had opportunities. LBJ flubbed on Vietnam but did well on Civil Rights.

You know, even though Sirhan Sirhan is dead, we can still blame him for RFK's assassination.

Time for boomers to stop obsessing about their taxes and realize they are leaving their children and grandchildren a regressive political and economic system. The richest country in the world lags other Industrialized nations in just about any measure.
