OP here. Good point. There has always been a roughly equal proportion of bikinis and one-pieces, but I never paid attention to the bottom coverage. I've never seen a thong.

OP, go to the pool in what you wore last year and decide if you'll feel comfortable in the new suit. For me, it's not about what people think as much as what allows me to relax and feel at ease in a space that is supposed to be relaxing for me. My worry for you is that if you're asking the question then you're unsure.

Figure out the vibe at the pool, then decide. FWIW, I think the suit is cute, but it's the bow and cut out that make it look attention-seeking. That same bottom without the cut out and bow wouldn't even be a question IMO.

Nobody said it was "scandalous" and it does not mean you are a frump or prude if you point out it is perhaps showing too much ass, in a family setting, yes. Some of us cover our ass at the community pool. This kind of cut is not the only way to look great in a suit. I guess I am more tolerant of showing some cleavage, it might be my bias. This just seems young to me

As one of those dreaded weirdos who wears a covered up swim outfit for religious reasons, I don't find either of the two suit bottoms posted by OP to be especially scandalous and I think people wear stuff like that at the pool we belong to.

The only potential issue I would be worried about is whether it will ride up or into the butt crack as the wearer walks, sits, and swims. If it's sized appropriately and the material is not too thin, this may not be an issue. But I would recommend test driving it at home first by doing 10 jumping jacks or something and then checking the mirror.

Do you mean that you have cellulite, even though you are thin? I do, so there is no shame if that is the case (I am 5'4" and 113 lbs, and I still have cellulite). But, then you need to look at your butt in the suit and decide whether, to you, it looks ok. If yes, there is no reason to fear wearing the suit to the community pool. It's not like it is a thong. It's fine.

Seems like a good litmus test for whether you are interested in knowing the people at your pool better. The responses here are ridiculous. It’s totally fine. I would not bat an eye if I saw you wearing this.

+1. I would wear at beach versus community pool. Also, It's a young look, and cut, my 16 year old would wear it. If you have even a bit of cellulite I would avoid but if you have a rocking body expect that people will notice. (Maybe you want that, in which case wear it I guess).
