I honestly feel very bad for her. She has had an emotionally turbulent life and experiences ( rape, multiple sexual assaults, hard drugs addiction). I honestly find it hard to take her seriously though because of all of that. I know she must have a lot to work through and I imagine this may seem like "the answer' for her.

Actually as a non-girly girl. It was not easily accepted by family. I was forced to wear dresses, etc. It was not better or easier.
I’m glad non-binary people can stop being put in a box that disgusts them.
But that's probably the particular family and part of the country you were born into. I was a total non-girly girl (except for loving ballet) and when I got asked "Are you a tomboy?" I would say "No, I'm just me." And I was content to wear my brother's hand-me-downs, and content to wear my cousin's hand-me-down dresses for dressy occasions and just accepted that tights, fancy shoes and dresses are uncomfortable.

Who are you to deem them any less trans than an “actual trans” person?
She’s not saying she’s trans though, is she? That’s the problem.
I don't find it to be a problem. But no they are not coming out as trans.
I think nonbinary is actually great for especially queer kids to see. They don't have to commit to transitioning just because they don't feel particularly "right" in their assigned gender.
That said, I would not be shocked if Demi is trying on a ton of identities much in order to make themselves feel "OK now". It seems more like a desperate search for the truth that will make things all better, not a revelation about the truth that was always sitting there. Not sure if that makes sense.

You are splitting hairs here. Yes, we as a society DO assign genders to people, almost always in a binary paradigm, according to their external sex traits. We just do. Which is obviously problematic for a portion of people because we should be assigning sex vs. gender in a different manner but in practice we DON'T.

NP. I don’t ever remember being assigned a gender. When does this usually take place?
The minute they say "it's a girl!" and mark the F on the birth certificate. For the record, I know someone about to give birth any day now, knew they were the crunchy/hippy type, so I thought I was being so hip and asked "do you know the sex of the baby yet" and specifically didn't ask gender. Her answer was, "we don't know sex or gender, we'll let the baby discover that when they're ready to."
I don't even know how I'm going to navigate this one to be brutally honest.
