I know - but my point was that completion percentage doesn't really give you the full picture without the context of the game. The incompletions may have been accurate passes into tiny spaces where the payoff could have been a goal. Or they may have been hurried clearances where completion was less important than the clearance. Or they may just have been inaccurate passes.

I am also pretty sure you are a parent and don’t understand the irony of the remark about long passes and Arlington. It could also be a really low accuracy percentage if the competition is weak, defense lax, or the evaluator is exaggerating the length of the pass. I don’t think it really matters. Congrats to the boy and best of luck on his next steps and in Charlottesville. It’s great. I wouldn’t parse it at all.

I believe he was at Arlington as recently as last year - so I think Arlington can reasonably claim to have developed him.

Nobody said they were signing pro contracts. They're just moving to MLS youth academies.

Got it. Thought you were implying they were going pro directly. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were staying put otherwise. Good teams and coaching.

I think the question is more about whether the younger kids are looking elsewhere. Earlier posts on HS soccer and a focus on college soccer seemed like good points to me. I have made those points to my kid, who remains interested in mls next, much to my chagrin.

The young kid should make his decision based on quality of coaching. If he moves to MLS Next he can always switch back provided he has continued to develop. That said - I'm not convinced that the coaching at our local MLS Next clubs is as good as Arlington's, although it obviously varies based on the age group and specific coaches involved.
