Can’t go wrong with a nice watch. Yes she probably has an Apple Watch etc but a nice dressy watch is still nice for weddings, etc

Just gave my DC’s GF a black leather shoulder handbag w $100 inside and She is so happy. She is going to use handbag at graduation. Most importantly, my son is happy.

OP here -- I was actually just on the Tumi website looking at luggage. We got our first piece of Tumi when we got married and used it for our honeymoon. God I loved that suitcase!
OP, I have four young adult daughters (one graduated college last year). A suitcase is a great idea, but Tumi is not for a young adult. Look at Away bigger carryons, lots of colors and very popular with that demographic.

Dp. Pp I don't think you need to feel bad for pp's dd. I am sure pp shows their dd love in many ways! Just because it isnt your way does not mean it is wrong.

I wouldn’t worry about giving her something too $$ because that is a perk of having a well-off boyfriend with well-off friends. And if everyone was afraid of one a “poor” persons parents, then that person would not get any good gifts.
I personally don’t like jewelry idea because it’s personal and you say you don’t know her well ; her parents (or boyfriend) may give her something more sentimental (even if it doesn’t cost as much); or she may just like wearing specific items, or may not wear jewelry.
I would go practical, especially since it seems like she may not have a lot of disposable income. Gift card to clothing store or mall - so she can buy clothes for interviews or her first job. The dilemma new grads have is they’ve been wearing torn jeans and sweats and now need a couple of weeks’ worth of business casual clothes before they get their first few checks. You could also give cash, but in my experience they use that to pay rent or Netflix bill — which is fine, but I like gift cards over cash when I want it to seem like a more thoughtful gift.
Agree- I really hate this attitude that someone from humble beginnings should be further penalized/given a lesser gift by those with higher means to “avoid offending anyone.” As a child from a poorer family who went to college on a full scholarship I would have been thrilled and extra appreciative to get a splurge/luxury type gift from my boyfriend’s parents and my parents certainly wouldn’t have felt resentful/given a thought to comparing gifts.
