Subaru Ascent .. we have 3 kids and have had all sorts of 3 row SUVs (Honda PIlot, Pathfinder, Highlander) we LOVE the Ascent the most.
Volvo is too small if need to use the third row regularly.

My 2016 Buick Enclave was the most reliable vehicle I’ve ever owned. I was able to get 140k miles out of it with minor issues. DD now drives it, but it was and still is impressively reliable.

If you took a top rated Honda Pilot and made it roomier and added convenient sliding doors and more trunk space you would end up with — a car that 40 year old parents refuse to drive because it clashes with their fading dreams of being young, single, and carefree. Minivans are the best if your ego can take a reality check.

I highly recommend the Ford Expedition Max. Captains chairs, a spacious third row, and still a large trunk. DH has an Atlas and I can’t stand it. I had an XC90 before the Expedition and it was beautiful but tiny.

My Buick Enclave has been wonderful and exceptionally reliable now for 128,000 miles. Would buy another in a heartbeat for its ease of driving and comfort for passengers and ability to haul stuff.

We have the Subaru Ascent and I came to this thread to recommend it. Feels roomy to me though we only have two kids and the pandemic started just after we bought it so there have only been a couple of occasions where we have had more than the four of us on it but we did have my inlaws on it early on so 4 adults and two kids. Very safe and reliable.


How would you rate the interior of the Ascent on luxury? I'm interested in it but haven't been to see it yet (they keep selling out near me) but I'm worried the inside will feel too rugged/outdoorsy. We would get the top trim (Touring) but I want it to feel relatively luxurious.

Went to Lindsey VW out past Dulles. Got an SEL Premium V6 at like $43k and 0% APR. We went mid-week right after they opened and we’re all done before noon. It was a bit of a hike to get there, but they have a large selection.

Same ? Re: atlas price and dealer. I walked into a dealer recently and they wouldn’t give me the time of day. I know cars are hot right now but the sales attitude was ... awful.

Also considering the XC90. Would love any price/financing/leasing info of anyone that has bought in the last few months.

We were thinking about the Telluride or Pallisade but found it to be too much of a pain to get them in stock. Dealers also weren’t offering discounts or incentives on either model because there was so much demand for them. We got a new Atlas instead and are very happy with it. It’s not worth the hunt. Nothing is special or unique about it. It’s all marketing.
