I once paid for gas with a 20 that turned out to be counterfeit, wasn't even sure where I had gotten it from. My mom and my sister used to like to play bingo at some bar where the bar owner owned the ATM and I heard about a stretch where it dispensed a number of phony 20s. It wasn't until we were looking at it close after the cashier said it wasn't real. They didn't make any kind of a deal about it.

McMillian's testimony and crying brought me to tears too PP, and I have watched hundreds of trials and proceedings without tears. McMillian gutted me. I too know what it is to be helpless, I too know what it is to not have a mom.

That was completely different. She was unarmed, obviously a lot less powerful than even the unarmed male officers, had committed no crime (in her life!), and was outside the vehicle. The officers were called out for a rape, so they knew to expect to see a woman in distress. What they saw was a woman in distress, and yet that officer shot her without hesitation. Over his partner from within the vehicle.

The Floyd case is very different. Floyd had high doses of hard narcotics in his system which can be fatal by itself, he had a deadly respiratory virus that has been killing hundreds of thousands of Americans, and he was a known criminal who was obviously strong enough to easily physically overpower Chauvin.

I don't think Chauvin seems like a particularly nice person, but I don't think he intended to kill Floyd that day. And if it wasn't for all the drugs and covid, which Chauvin couldn't have known about, then I'm not convinced that Floyd would have died.

Chauvin was a bit rough, but cops dealing with these types of criminals need to be. Polite language doesn't work, and they're trained not to use their weapons if they don't need to. He was probably showing off a bit for the crowd, but he also knew there were a lot of witnesses and that it was being recorded. He might be guilty of something but I don't believe he should go away for the death itself.

He kneeled on his neck for nearly 10 minutes. If someone closes your airway for 10 minutes, you will die, regardless of your previous health. People like you are hateful and disgusting. You will always find an excuse for a cop - this was murder, plain and simple.

As I said upthread - the goalposts keep moving. No one’s life was ever in danger here, with the exception of George Floyd.

He was a drug addict and had two different illegal substances in his body.

Fine. I'm sure they could tell he was likely impaired, and the presence of substances increases the risk of death, meaning an obligation to take care not to kill the person. Heck, if they'd tased him multiple times and he died, they would have gotten away with it. I think the goal was, at the very least, to render him unconscious, period. And to make sure he stayed unconscious until EMTs could put him on a gurney. One of the chilling moments I remember (it's been months since I watched it), was when the EMT comes up, the knee is still there, and no attempt is made to ascertain if he is alive, let alone conscious.

So does my brother who is a lawyer at a top law firm on any given day, should he be choked to death. I’m sure he’s even screw people out of $20x $1000000000.

Chauvin had numerous complaints against him but not sure if that can be introduced. Anyway whatever the jury decides Derek Chauvin murdered George Floyd. We watched it on tape.

So what? Does that mean he deserved to be asphyxiated for $20? That the clerk who took it admitted that he wasn’t sure if George Floyd was aware that it was counterfeit?

Again - the goal posts keep moving. It’s fine to just say that. Or it’s fine for you to just say that you are ok with the police killing people who you feel are beneath you.

Even if he was on drugs, if not for the actions of the police that day, he would still be alive. Moments earlier, he was chatting, stretching and breathing just fine. He was not posing a threat to anyone.

Fact is, the convenience store showed how enormous and powerful Floyd was. Now we’re supposed to think the drugs made him less dangerous?

Most of the jurors have seen movies where the thug looks like he’s subdued but was just playing possum. It’s too late when you’re taking the bullet or knife. Better to err on the side of safety.

And to think, all this could have been averted if Floyd had just used a real $20. Sad.

My goodness but you’re twisted. As if a property crime ALLEGATION justifies a death penalty absent due process.

Chauvin portrayed himself as a stone-cold, merciless killer. He kept digging his knee further into that man's neck the more the man screamed he could not breathe. You can see Chauvin dig his knee and adjust when the EMT and MMA individuals screamed he is not moving, check his pulse. When it was known to Chavin that Floyd was no longer breathing, he still refused to remove his knee. Finally, when he was called soon after on his behavior, in his own calm, unemotional tone, Chauvin said "well he was a big guy and he was probably on something. I had to subdue him". And when he made that comment he knew that Floyd was dead, but he cared not a wit.

As for Floyd having drugs in his system, so freaking what. People hav drugs in their system everyday and do not die. The man did not die from the drugs, but from lack of air due to a knee on the neck. You're basically saying that those 500,000 people who died from Covid did not really die from Covid because they had pneumonia, heart problems, diabetes, etc., so Covid did not kill them their other medical problems killed them. BS.

I thought Mr. Mcmillian’s testimony was gut wrenching and his raw reaction to the video made me cry. The 20 year old store employee’s testimony also struck me as to how tortured these witnesses are and forever changed and feel a sense of guilt for not doing more.

My read on Chauvin is that he is dumb and arrogant and refused to let a crowd tell him what to do, so he dug in more. The videos show Mr. Floyd complaining that he couldn’t breath when first in the squad car so maybe Chauvin didn’t believe him when he had him on the ground. His defense that he was distracted by an unruly crowd does not hold merit; isn’t being focused what a professional officer is trained to do? It was clearly a power/ego trip gone deadly.

Really hard to watch the videos. Such a shame. It makes me so upset to watch it unfold. It’s even worse than I had thought. They had no right to hold him down like that. He wasn’t resisting.

You are wrong. The guy was cuffed.
