Sure it is. I’m a daycare teacher and the 2yos at our daycare wear them all the time. Whether they wear them “well” is a subject to debate since most masks are sized for older kids and they tend to drool on them more, but they wear them enough to fulfill pandemic theater requirements pretty well. That’s the most important thing right? To curb adults anxiety!

Yes, I'm confident kids will be wearing masks in the fall.

Do I think they will be? Yes. should be? No. Once most adults are vaccinated I don’t think children should be required to keep up all these preventive measures for something that -generally- barely affects them.

Do you think Montgomery county will make recommendations for outdoor protocols for summer programs soon?

You’re an idiot. Comparing clothes to a face covering? Seriously? Not the same thing. I hope you continue to wear a mask even when the pandemic ends and make a fool of yourself.

exactly. it's a reflection of the parents for kids who can't do it.

You can’t know this. Kids are different. My 3 yr old wears a mask pretty comfortably, but I know kids her age with sensory issues for whom it’s really challenging. Their families wind up staying home a lot because they worry they will be shamed or considered Covid deniers. I’ve had strangers on the street make snide comments to me if they see my kid without a mask (because she was taking a sip of water or her mask fell in the mud, things they don’t consider), so I can only imagine how hard it is for families whose kids struggle with masks.

+1. Also there's a pretty wide gulf between a 4yo and a 2yo. M 4yo mostly wears it fine now, but my 2yo? Struggle every goddamn day. It's against biological instinct to have your nose and mouth covered up all day.

Not the same, try harder.

mask your kids

Nope, I chose a daycare where they're not required. Sorry not sorry.

That’s why it’s important for the preschools to be understanding. My daughter is 4 and wears her mask fine, but the school has made it clear that, with this age group, they are going to remind the kids to wear their masks, but will not push it to the point where the kid gets unduly upset, especially if they know the kid has sensory issues.
