Not really, because globally as income rises so does meat consumption.
Evidence supports the conclusion that high amounts of meat consumption increases health risks, but there is no real consensus on what "high" means, besides the fact that it is also a matter of what else you eat. Vegans require B12 supplementation, you cannot get adequate B12 from a completely plant based diet. But you also don't need a lot of meat to get enough B12, and combining grains and legumes provides complete protein (btw I was a farm kid and used to know how to blend grain + soybean meal for swine rations. Also, pork raised with some range access is damned good.)
"We know that meat is unhealthy" as a global pronouncement? No, where did you get your education?
And yes, ag industry lobbying is part of it but not the only part. It is also true that a lot of agricultural land is not suited for crop production. Maybe if we limited beef consumption globally to the amount of animals that can be raised solely on range + hay (skip the grain feeding), adding in the animals that result from dairy production (not the same breeds raised for beef) and also did not clear forest areas for the express purpose of raising cattle, and if wealthier countries didn't take the vast majority of the meat produced, we'd all be ok. Not that that is likely to happen, although beef consumption in the US has been dropping for many years.
