Guess what? This is not mainly a conservative issue. I see Trumpists taking advatage and skewing the ideas. But other people who are not Trumpists/conservatives have real concerns/ confusion /limited understanding of this bill, and saying shut up and deal with it does not help. If any, this could backfire if we do not even acknowlege or talk about these issues/fears. At a minimum, the discussion will enlighten people why we need it and will provide a counter talking point to those who vehemently oppose it because of bigotry.

Agree!! I have a close friend who is trans that I’ve known since childhood. We gone into public restrooms together in CA, AZ, and DC for years. It never occurred to that this was controversial until a few years ago when people lost their f*king minds over it. People need to move onto a real problem! (Hint it isn’t football players taking a new during the national anthem either!)

You seem eager to project strong emotions onto my post. Why?

Many young people identity as nonbinary. Will schools have to redesign bathrooms and locker rooms? Will there be a Title IX for nonbinary? Not clear what discrimination against nonbinary looks like.....

Back then, when she had all of the physical advantages of having the male physiology, would it have been a-okay for her to complete against women? Where do we draw the line?

The existential questions of her identity then aside, high level athletic competitions like Olympics have rules about hormone levels, so the answer is no.

For high school sports, I think it's worth asking what the purpose of the competition is, and whether that changes how we feel about trans athletes. I think the answer there is that high school sports should not be centered around strict competition like that Olympics and should err on the side of encouraging participation without those kinds of requirements.

OP here. I like several opposing views that are being discussed here. 18:13 and 18:14 rsised good points, I think this type of discussion is really helpful, and makes people think and understand that this is not as simple other people push it to be. It’s not as simple as trans women being real women, in some aspects they may be, but biologically, it’s more complicated. I hate that the ines I see being shared online are very one sided, and it doesn’t answer the concerns of the other sides, which would have been helpful. I’m still not sold on the sports issue. Seems teally complex.

There are cisgender women who have a significant edge over the vast majority of other cisgender women based on their biological make-up. Are you advocating for a dividing line that would exclude them from women's sports? If not, why should a comparably-advantaged trans woman be excluded?

It's not the like there's room for only one woman in each women's sport.

An infinite number is acceptable to them - until their own daughters have to unfairly compete against trans-women.
